We’re thankful for ... NWO readers express gratitude for this year’s blessings

Tis the season when giving thanks is especially on our minds. In keeping with tradition, we recently reached out to our readers and asked them to share what they are especially thankful for this year. The following are some of the comments we received, with more to follow in our Dec. 5 issue. ••••• I am blessed not just at this season of the year but each day that I can arise from my bed and see the sun, walk around, and at night snuggle down in a

warm blanket to sleep. I thank God for each year He has given me, and am appreciative, in light of the many homeless people, that I have a roof over my head. Just life itself is a priceless gift.

Helen Ledford OAK RIDGE Not only at Thanksgiving, but every day I have an endless list of things to be thankful for. I am so thankful for my husband Phillip, our daughter Savannah and our son who is due in January. This December I will celebrate my 6th anniversary of being cancer-free. I am so thankful for my family, our health, our home and what a great year this has been. I am also thankful that Jesus died for

us and that God has forgiven my sins and saved my soul.

Casey Stone STOKESDALE I am thankful for the wonderful family God has entrusted me with and for the blessings He has given my family this year. I’m also thankful for His gifts of good health and great friends. Wayne Gold SUMMERFIELD I’m thankful for the opportunity to help so many people in our community to have an exercise routine in their lifestyle and for them to feel better and have more energy. Seven Oak Ridge-based churches and Oak Ridge Military Academy collaborated on the annual community Thanksgiving service, held at the academy’s Bonner Field House on Nov. 23. Over 200 people attended the service and over $2,300 was collected in the community offering, which will be donated to Oak Ridge Elementary School to help students and families in need.
