GreenFleet A Look At Taking Charge

------- T H E R O A D TO 2 0 3 0 B E G I N S H E R E ------WELCOME TO THE NET ZERO ROADSHOW: A Look At: Taking Charge – The electric vehicle infrastructure strategy After more than five years of continuous growth, the 2022 GREENFLEET NET ZER0 ROADSHOW returns with a fresh new look and format. Today, we have put together an online event crammed full of everything you need to implement a clean fleet strategy, but more than that we zoom in on the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy announced by the Transport Secretary on 25th March. The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy is a significant move by the UK government to support fleets that face increasing pressure to switch to net zero. The Strategy is backed by £1.6bn and aims to make charging an electric vehicle (EV) ‘easier and cheaper’ than refuelling a petrol or diesel car. The scale of the climate challenge ahead of us all is well known and decarbonising transport is at the very heart of our agenda,’ Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said. ‘No matter where you live – be that a city centre or rural village, the north, south, east or west of the country – we’re powering up the switch to electric and ensuring no one gets left behind in the process.

which will boost projects such as EV hubs and on-street charging. The LEVI funding includes up to £50m to fund staff to work on local challenges and public charge point planning. A pilot scheme for this fund has launched and will see local authorities bid for a share of £10m in funding. And during today’s GREENFLEET NET ZER0 ROADSHOW you will learn even more from a stellar line-up of net zero experts from across local and central government. From OZEV to SMMT and many between each offers support, information and guidance on strategy, plans, legislation as well as the grants and loans available to you. We also have some of the best charge-point manufacturers in the industry explaining new-to-market technology, what matters now and what is to come. With the event designed to make sure you get everything you need to make an educated decision on your next step to a ULEV fleet, we are confident you are in the right place. A big thank you for being with us. Colin Boyton, Events manager GF365 & GREENFLEET Events

‘That’s why we’re ensuring the country is EV-fit for future generations by the end of this decade, revolutionising our charging network and putting the consumer first.’ Around £500m will be invested to bring public charge points to communities across the UK. This includes a £450m Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund,

members’ interests, at home and abroad, to government, stakeholders and the media. National Grid National Grid may be a well-known name, but there are often misconceptions as to what we actually do. We own the Electricity Transmission in England and Wales, as well as the Gas Transmission for the whole of Great Britain. In more relatable terms, this means that we own the Motorways and Dual Carriageways of the energy system, where the local A and B roads are run by Regional Distribution Networks; hence we are critical to keeping the lights on and the gas flowing. National Grid does not buy, sell, or generate electricity, we simply transport it from where it’s made to where it’s consumed. We obviously

share the target of net zero by 2050, are confident about meeting this target. In this vein of sustainability, we are aware that as the Transmission Owner, we have an essential role when it comes to the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the UK. National Grid can cope with 100% EVs and having the right ‘future proof’ grid capacity at the right location ahead of need is key to success for charge point owners. National Grid is the enabler of the low carbon transport future, and we see collaboration ensuring this ‘managed transition’ to clean transport.

Char.gy Easy everyday EV charging (that enables a more renewable energy system) char.gy helps landowners with shared parking areas provide easy everyday EV charging to drivers that can’t charge on their home electricity supply. There’s a big list! Councils, big and small. Community housing providers. Property managing agents. Car park operators. Businesses with parking for staff, visitors and working vehicles. Our approach brings 3 big benefits to landowners and drivers: 1. Cost: Making the most of existing electricity connections helps speed up installations and keep costs down. This way char.gy

The AA As the UK’s number one provider of roadside assistance, we serve almost 10m business customers, working with around three fifths of the UK’s top 20 fleets. We’re also quickly becoming the UK’s leading mobility technology and customer service provider for SMEs, manufacturers and charge post operators. We offer the perfect mix of industry leading services with first-class customer service, being named as a Which? Recommended Provider for breakdown cover for four years running. Our organisation is strongly technology and data-led, while our service for corporate

helps landowners offer drivers a good value charging amenity that is easy to scale up. 2. Convenience: Watching your car charge is the EV equivalent of watching paint dry. To help landowners provide drivers the convenience of “charge while you’re parked here”, char. gy’s 3-22kW chargers can be installed just about anywhere. From upcycling lampposts, to slimline bollards, to walls and poles. 3. Carbon: A renewable-based electricity system works best when energy use is flexible. EVs can provide a huge source of flexible energy use, but only when they’re plugged in for many hours at a time. By encouraging drivers to charge while they parked, char.gy helps landowners support more renewable energy production in the UK’s drive to Net Zero. www.char.gy

We also help minimise wider stress and disruption to fleets and ensure the smoother running of operations through our award-winning services, including Key Assist, Battery Assist, Fuel Assist and EV Support.
