And what better way to kick off than with our six-part GREENFLEET Net Zero Roadshow. In 2022, we will be travelling to key regions in the UK and today you join us here in the North West of England. Located between Liverpool and Manchester, leafy Warrington plays host to a brilliant day of everything EV. The morning’s session welcomes guest speakers from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, Growth Platform Local Energy North West Energy Hub, National Grid and the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders. Each of these organisations is here to support and advise you on your fleet transition to net zero, drilling down into policy and incentives, vehicle supply and charging infrastructure. with them throughout the day over coffee and refreshments to get the answers you need. Not only that, focus group sessions have been organised for you throughout the afternoon and time has also been freed up to test drive the latest EVs and chat to the expert exhibitors we have on-site. Finally, after a day packed with networking, good food and test drives, we finish with a drink and prize draw, where you all have a chance of winning. National Grid National Grid may be a wellknown name, but there are often misconceptions as to what we actually do. We own the Electricity Transmission in England and Wales, as well as the Gas Transmission for the whole of Great Britain. In more relatable terms, this means that we own the Motorways and Dual Carriageways of the energy system, where the local A and B roads are run by Regional Distribution Networks; hence we are critical to keeping the lights on and the gas flowing. National Grid does not buy, sell, or generate electricity, we simply transport it from where it’s made
to where it’s consumed. We obviously share the target of net zero by 2050, are confident about meeting this target. In this vein of sustainability, we are aware that as the Transmission Owner, we have an essential role when it comes to the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the UK. National Grid can cope with 100% EVs and having the right ‘future proof’ grid capacity at the right location ahead of need is key to success for charge point owners. National Grid is the enabler of the low carbon transport future, and we see collaboration ensuring this ‘managed transition’ to clean transport.

E V E N T S CO M I N G U P I N 2022 The electrification of UK fleets has gathered real pace over the last few years, and despite the pandemic, things have not slowed down. It is generally felt that the whole ‘electric car’ narrative has arrived, been embraced and will now kickon at great pace. The next shift, in terms of strategy, is how we clean up our commercial vehicle fleets… Electric vans and trucks are here, and the industry opinion appears to be that growth in this sector will be much quicker than that of the electric car. But there is also a feeling that ‘electric’ is still not the ONLY solution. Gas, in the form of CNG and LNG, especially in LGVs, is seen as vital, and we cannot forget Hydrogen either. Commercial GREENFLEET will look at all these aspects, with Q&As, Polls and much more.
28TH APRIL
28th April 2022 - 09.30 BST - Online Put simply, the Great British EV Rally (GBEVR) is a ‘demonstration’ of UK EV charging infrastructure, combined with clean and innovative vehicle technology. Sponsored by the UK’s leading leasing specialists, Lex Autolease, the idea is to demonstrate the roles that EVs can play in UK fleets… That no matter what the job, there is likely an EV available that can perform the task… Improving efficiency, saving money and, overall, helping reach net zero. We plan on putting 20+ EVs on the road, in July, and set them off from John O’Groats, on a 5-day, 1400+ mile ‘e-Rally’, taking in many of the beautiful landmarks across the UK, but most importantly, showcasing the charging infrastructure at the same time. Get involved by following the rally on social media: Twitter: @GBEVRally LinkedIn: Great British EV Rally Instagram: @gbevrally
