------- T H E R O A D TO 2 0 3 0 B E G I N S H E R E ------Welcome to GREENFLEET Cymru Living in the virtual world has its benefits. It is only March but already in 2021 you have been to London and the South East and in and around the North East of England. Today, you are on route to Wales, with us, the GREENFLEET NET ZER0 ROADSHOW team. So why Wales? It is the picturesque country making significant steps towards electrified travel, but one that also needs to do more and where fleet managers WANT to do more. Okay, so “Yes”, our ‘Pandemic Plan’ was to be able to host this event LIVE by now, but as with many plans we have all made in the last year, this was not meant to be. But we will not be beaten! So, we once again welcome you to another online event – and we could not be happier to have you with us. With no need for social-distancing… No need for facemasks, gloves or hand sanitiser... All you need do is sit back, relax and take part, of course. ‘Take part?’ I hear you say, ‘but how?’ Simple. Not only will you have access to presentations, both LIVE and ON DEMAND, you will also be able to chat live to our wonderful GREENFLEET guests via the Q&A tab. So, what will you learn this morning? The Welsh Government reveals its Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy Update, OZEV maps out the Road to 2030 and tells you what you should be doing now, and CCS travel to the Brecon Beacons to put the GREENFLEET spotlight on an electric fleet that is making superb inroads into making the vehicle switch look easy. National Grid also speaks to put your mind at ease about Cymru’s charging infrastructure. To ensure the event runs to time is our expert GREENFLEET Ambassador, Kate Armitage, and before we begin, I must mention that vehicle manufacturers, charging experts and financiers also join the stellar line-up. In fact, one face you are sure to recognise is Simon King from Mitie. Simon has joined us on a few occasions, now, for GREENFLEET events, simply because his insight, sector knowledge and delivery are second to none. And as we all know, ‘sharing is caring’, so post your thoughts and comments on Twitter and LinkedIn using @GreenFleetNews #NetZero #FleetStrategy and #ConnectingCymru. We hope you have an enjoyable and informative event.

National Grid National Grid may be a wellknown name, but there are often misconceptions as to what we actually do. We own the Electricity Transmission in England and Wales, as well as the Gas Transmission for the whole of Great Britain. In more relatable terms, this means that we own the Motorways and Dual Carriageways of the energy system, where the local A and B roads are run by Regional Distribution Networks; hence we are critical to keeping the lights on and the gas flowing. National Grid does not buy, sell, or generate electricity, we simply transport it from where it’s made

to where it’s consumed. We obviously share the target of net zero by 2050, are confident about meeting this target. In this vein of sustainability, we are aware that as the Transmission Owner, we have an essential role when it comes to the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the UK. National Grid can cope with 100% EVs and having the right ‘future proof’ grid capacity at the right location ahead of need is key to success for charge point owners. National Grid is the enabler of the low carbon transport future, and we see collaboration ensuring this ‘managed transition’ to clean transport.

www.nationalgrid.com/uk/electricity-transmission

Welsh Government In 2019, the Welsh Government set out its ambition to renew the Welsh economy as part of the global transition to Net Zero emissions by 2050. To achieve this goal a major investment programme is underway in Wales. In many sectors, the Net Zero transition will bring real savings, as people use fewer

resources and adopt cleaner, moreefficient technologies like electric cars. The Welsh Government is supporting people and businesses to adopt lowcarbon solutions as high-carbon options are phased out. By the early 2030s all new cars and vans will be low-carbon – largely electric. By 2040, all new heavy goods vehicles should be low-carbon.

SPONSORS ubitricity ubitricity: helping councils create convenient, low cost, reliable EV public charging networks There are 5 big benefits of driving electric: zero emission travel; torque-on-tap acceleration; ultra-low maintenance; low fuel costs; charge-while-you-sleep fuelling. But EV drivers without driveways battle to enjoy the last two: cheap and convenient fuelling. ubitricity is changing that. We’re helping councils place EV charge points right outside the homes of EV drivers who lack driveways. With our charge points inside the lampposts on their street, EV drivers can park up close to home and charge overnight. And they’ll pay much less than the typical price of rapid chargers.

Backed by strong established brands like Siemens, Honda and EDF, we deliver a smart, flexible, low carbon energy system by providing turnkey EV charging systems. Anyone, from local residents to working vans, can use our smart EV charging system when they’re parked for a while. That helps charge point hosts, such as local authorities, businesses and fleet depots, to lead by example on our road to net zero. No wonder 24 councils have installed nearly 2,000 of our charge points for their residents and visitors! We believe we can provide electricity for everyone everywhere. So let’s talk about your sustainable transport plans.. ubitriciry.co.uk

Volvo Volvo Cars started producing automobiles in Sweden in 1927. Today, its global, with sales in about 100 countries. Under its new company purpose, Volvo Cars aims to provide customers with the Freedom to Move in a personal, sustainable and safe way. This purpose is reflected in a

number of business ambitions: for example, by the middle of this decade it aims for half of its global sales to be fully electric cars. Volvo Cars is also committed to an ongoing reduction of its carbon footprint, with the ambition to be a climate-neutral company by 2040. volvocars.com/uk
