WELCOME

DEAR VISITOR Welcome to GreenFleet Scotland, which returns to the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, and celebrates its 10th Anniversary! And before I go in to detail about what to expect this year, I wanted to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to Transport Scotland and Energy Saving Trust, who have been the principle supporters of the event since its launch in 2009. And to YOU, the fleet and transport professionals that turn out in your hundreds every year, and are the reason that the event has become THE Fleet Event for Scotland. Without you all, the event would not be possible, and we hope that we can continue to bring you the very latest in ultra-low emission vehicle technology and services, for another 10 years. So, once again we have put together a day crammed full of the very latest in vehicle technology, from cars, to vans and even trucks. Together with leasing and financing solutions, recharging technology and more, the event will once again allow you to make an “educated decision” on what steps you take next, as you look to change your fleet DNA. This year, BMW’s new 740e PHEV iPerformance saloon is bound to be a popular test drive vehicle. Thanks to BMW iPerformance technology, the electric motor and petrol engine work in perfect harmony, meaning it offers outstanding efficiency combined with the luxurious elegance of the BMW 7-Series Saloon. Be sure to book early. By popular demand, Tesla are back. The innovative EV maker will once again showcase the stunning Model X, which boasts all-wheel drive, a 100kWh battery that delivers a 351-mile range and has seating for seven adults and all of their luggage. Vans on fleet? Then look no further than a British name that is ‘Back with a Bang!’ LDV are with us in Scotland, and the highlight of their new range is the adaptable EV80 electric panel van, which also comes with a Tipper alternative. Debuting at GreenFleet events last year, this workhorse proved to be hugely popular with fleet managers, and with nothing else like it on the market, it’s sure to be a Star of the Show here in Edinburgh. Toyota will demonstrate the amazing Mirai, the

world’s first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV). Make sure you experience this stunning piece of engineering, set to lead the way in the next phase of zero-emission motoring. And if Trucks are on your fleet and agenda, then look no further than IVECO. We are delighted that they are with us for the first time, showcasing one of the clean trucks from their range. Check out the CNG Daily, and make sure you talk to their experts about the Electric alternative, and also the CNG and LNG Stralis, their natural power tractor unit set to revolutionise LGV haulage. If it’s ‘information’ you’re after, then make sure you take in the Seminars we have lined up for you today. Session 1, sponsored by LDV, focuses on Clean Commercial Vehicles and their role in helping combat air quality issues, as well as saving you money. Air Quality is the focus in Session 2 and is brought to you by REHIS, and includes more on Clean Air Day. And in the afternoon we have the E-cosse Forum, led by the Energy Saving Trust, who together with other experts, will offer a Guide to a Cleaner Fleet DNA. A big thank you to all the organisations which have supported the event this year, especially Energy Saving Trust and Transport Scotland. We hope you have an informative visit, and if you have any ideas on how we can expand the event, we would be delighted to hear from you. INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR A GREENER SCOTLAND GreenFleet Scotland returns to the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh on 4 May to allow fleet managers to test drive the latest low and zero‑emission vehicles and hear about Scotland’s latest air quality work

Traffic is the dominant cause of air pollution in Scotland, which causes over 2,500 early deaths every year, according to Friends of the Earth. To tackle this, Scotland has drawn up measures to improve its air quality, which includes a number of low emission zones (LEZs) and air quality management areas (AQMA). Scotland’s first LEZ will be in Glasgow and is due to be up and running by the end of the year. Other cities including Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee are expected to have similar zones in place by 2020. Fleet managers in Scotland have a vital role to play in reducing

HYDROGEN ZONE We are delighted to once again bring you the Hydrogen Zone, courtesy of Transport Scotland. Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles offer the potential to contribute to the decarbonisation of Scotland’s road transport sector, something to which the Scottish Government is firmly committed

The Scottish Government has already provided support for the Aberdeen Hydrogen Bus Project and is also taking forward a range of other activities to promote the uptake of electric vehicles, as set out in their publication, Switched On Scotland Hydrogen for zero-emissions transport is now being deployed in several locations in Scotland including Aberdeen, Fife, and the Orkney Islands, so make sure you visit the Zone, where you can see the latest in this clean technology.

Hydrogen is widely recognised as a clean transport fuel which can replace fossil fuels. Refuelling with hydrogen is just like topping up your tank with petrol – Logan Energy will demonstrate this, alongside their H₂ range-extended Renault Kangoo van. Co-Wheels Car Club are here, and they will have both the Nissan eNV200 van, as well as a Toyota Mirai, all demonstrating that this is not technology that is years away… it’s available and in use today. ITM Power are in the Zone too, this

year, and the refuelling specialist will have experts on hand to discuss any questions you might have. They are joined by TCP Hire, how are showcasing their hydrogen-powered trailers and lights, an ideal solution for local authorities, utility companies, etc. And finally, make sure that you talk to the representatives from the Scottish Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA), who have supported GreenFleet Scotland from the outset, and are key to bringing this technology together for you today. 

SOLAR TRADE ASSOCIATION  market through on-sit generation, storage and demand-side response is on the brink of becoming a reality. Many of the almost 1 million solar homes in the UK will be able to charge their electric car from their own generated power and save money. The annual savings for cars that are left at home and charged by solar PV

during the day could be upwards of £100. But it doesn’t have to stop there. Clean power from domestic solar + storage systems could be traded in virtual communities too – enabling residents to charge their EVs from their neighbors excess supply. More local power provision and local grid management, which solar delivers, negates the need

THE FLEET EVENT FOR SCOTLAND

for centralised generation and network capacity to meet peaks, which could increase significantly as transport electrifies. But if planned well, EVs could result in even net negative emissions because grid-connected EV batteries could provide major benefits for wider system efficiency—given a low-carbon electrical grid. 

Daimler Fleet Management At Daimler Fleet Management the solution starts with you Daimler Fleet Management (DFM) is challenging the conventional approach to fleet management – and it’s doing so with considerable success. Like many fleet management companies, DFM offers funding and fleet management services for fleets of cars and vans. However, while most suppliers deliver a set of pre-selected, standard products, DFM works with their customers to create bespoke solutions that drive greater efficiency. DFM will recommend and fund any make or model – whatever is the best choice for the customer’s business. DFM don’t start with a sales call, they start with a consultation.

Customers benefit from a dedicated account manager, who takes a collaborative approach, starting with understanding your business challenges before recommending a solution; whether the objective is to save money, reduce downtime, meet environmental targets or all of the above. DFM recently strengthened its offering further when parent company, Daimler, acquired European leasing and mobility experts, Athlon – a move that extends their cover across the whole of Europe. With their expertise, experience and innovative approach firmly in place, DFM is set to go from strength to strength offering a suite of mobility solutions above and beyond traditional leasing.
