SPEAKERS Xx Tony Singleton OBE, Host, Digital Operations and Programme Director
With a strong commercial background, Tony is an experienced Programme and Operations Director and sits at Board level for organisations that deliver business transformation and digital services. Throughout his career he has played a major role in transitioning citizen facing content from government websites to Directgov, built the Government Digital Service (GDS) as a ‘Whitehall start-up’ to become an established organisation and transformed the way the Public Sector buys IT and digital services by redesigning G-Cloud and helping to create what is now known as the Digital Marketplace. These achievements and many others in this field were recognised in 2014 when he was awarded the OBE.
Nicky Stewart, Commercial Director, UKCloud
Nicky Stewart has been with UKCloud for ten years, where she runs the company’s commercial functions. However, prior to this, she worked at the Cabinet Office and was head of ICT Strategy Delivery. She has been instrumental in UKCloud’s presence on the G-Cloud framework since its inception.
Emma Fryer, Associate Director - Data Centres, techUK
Emma leads the data centre programme for technology sector trade body techUK. She influences policy, mitigates compliance burdens, alerts the sector to risks and manages specialist groups, including the UK Council of Data Centre Operators. She negotiated a Climate Change Agreement for the sector in 2014, worth over £200 million to UK operators and continues to lobby hard on behalf of the industry on issues ranging from energy costs to regulatory compliance. Emma’s key priorities include sustainability and resilience. Recent outputs include a Sector Energy Routemap and a discussion paper on the challenges of attributing carbon to cloud services. She has recently been appointed to the Board of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact and is working closely with the European Commission on common objectives.
