THE BUILDING PROJECT AND CAMPUS SAFETY — — — —

PLAY / OUTDOOR AREAS: It is anticipated that the football pitch will be covered and used all year round by the students. A lease has been signed to use a new football field with the adjoining national school beside PSI. A new playground will be established across the road from the school for supervised play breaks. Students will play on the football pitch and in the Primary and Secondary School courtyard with break times ‘staggered’ to control safety issues.

SPECIAL PROGRAMMES AND EVENTS: Our ECA and Saturday Sports programmes will include the use of off campus sporting venues in close proximity to the school. Several of our larger events will take place at off-campus venues to ensure safety and comfort for all involved.

The PSI Board and administration will be working very closely with the selected building contractor on all health and safety planning. A full-time project management team representing PSI will be on campus daily to monitor every aspect of the project and safety. International building standards and safety will be implemented and the PSI security staff will also ensure a very secure school campus. The building site will be heavily fenced, gated, securely locked and in safe distance from student learning and play areas.

August 2017: The Phase 2 project is completed The 2017 / 2018 school year begins

HEALTH AND SAFETY PLANNING: Set times will be established for trucks and materials being moved onto and off of the school campus. Set times for school buses to arrive and to depart campus will remain. The management team will perform daily fence, safety and security inspections. Strategies to manage any pollution and ‘dust’ on campus will be employed. This includes a large (noise absorbing) fence. Heavy construction ‘noise’ will be carefully planned, timetabled and announced ahead to limit disruptions to classrooms. Additionally, the fence mentioned above is a strong measure to limit ‘noise’ issues. It is anticipated that street access and off campus parking will not be interrupted by the building project for both the school community and local residents.
