8 | THE DIAMOND OF PSI UPSILON
You live abroad and rub elbows with powerful international leaders. You wield significant influence as you live in exotic places and learn about cultures far different from your own. You make good money with great advancement opportunities and an awesome retirement package. Your work is rewarding because you have a direct hand in improving people’s lives, affecting global issues like peacebuilding, hunger, and free enterprise. You also accept the chance that you may encounter physical danger or personal harm. Your workday is often long and extraordinarily unpredictable. You move around a lot at others’ discretion; sometimes needing to leave your family behind for months or longer because you don’t want them to live in a harsh climate or among hostile people. There’s volatility, uncertainty, and conflicting perspectives out of your control that sometimes keep you from reaching your goals.
