Located in Penetanguishene, Waypoint provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. It is the only speciality mental health hospital in the region with the province’s only forensic mental health programs. Description Youth Reach

A Simcoe County based charity that provides kids with the opportunity to get involved in programs they are interested in participating in. The charity is committed to helping children get into programs their families may not be able to afford. Grants are provided to join soccer, baseball, hockey, martial arts, music, theatre, dance, day camps, and any skill-based program that supports a child’s development and growth. The charity provides up to $250.00 in a twelve-month period. Total house income needs to be less than $50,000 per year, the child needs to be between the ages of 3.5 years and 18 years, and the family needs to have their Notice of Assessment.

Adlerian therapy: a method that involves the therapist working with a client to identify obstacles and creating effective strategies to reach their goals.

Art Therapy: a discipline integrating creative methods of expression through visual art.

Brief Therapy: time-limited and present orientated. Amethod that emphasizes the clients resources and strengths. Focuses on the client's present symptoms and life circumstances.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): a common type of talk therapy that works to change thinking patterns.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): a distinct type of cognitive behavioural therapy that has proved to be effective in reducing symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): based on the premise that emotions are key to identity. Increasing emotional awareness and helping clients use the information conveyed by their emotions.

Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E): a specific type of cognitive behavioural therapy that is effective in treating eating disorders.

Existential Therapy: with a focus on the human condition, client’s capacities are highlighted and they are encouraged to take responsibility for their successes.

Experiential Therapy: a technique where clients use expressive tools to recreate previous situations from past and present relationships. Ns.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR): process that allows the brain to resume its healing process. Instead of focusing on shifting the emotions, thoughts, or behaviours resulting from distressing issues it is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain.

Family Systems Therapy: uses systems thinking as it views the family as an emotional unit. It evaluates the family as parts of a system in relation to the

Play Therapy: primarily used for children. Provides children with a way to express their experiences and feelings through a creative self-expression process.

Positive Parenting Program (Triple P): works to equip parents with the abilities needed to be self-sufficient and manage family issues without the need of ongoing support.

Psychodynamic Therapy: interprets the mental and emotional process instead of behaviour. Helps clients discover patterns in their emotions, beliefs, and thoughts to gain awareness into their current self.

Sand Tray Therapy: a form of expressive therapy often used with children. Allows clients to construct their microcosm and reflect on their lives. Provides the opportunity to deal with conflicts, remove obstacles, and accept themselves.

Systems-Centered Therapy (SCT): involves the living human system and how it contains energy within functional boundaries that can be directed towards client goals.

Solution-Focused (Brief) Therapy (SFBT): a goal-focused approach that involves positive psychology principles and practices. Constructs solutions for clients rather than focusing on problems.
