1246, Connecting Classrooms Project: international cooperation on diversity and inclusion. (Borovikova Helena, Zaretskiy Victor, Semenov Victor, Pateeva Natalia) This presentation will focus on the areas of development and capacity building in the context of inclusive education. The joint project of the British Council and Moscow City Department of education is setting an example of international cooperation for tackling the problem of teaching/learning tolerance and diversity through building partnership between a group of schools from Moscow and four European countries. The programme is aimed at developing understanding and

trust between young people in different societies, creating a safer and more connected world for everyone. The focus on inclusion helps develop the students’ responsibility and skills needed to live and work in the diverse world. Teachers and school leaders are supported to develop school partnerships and integrate them into school curricula and broader strategic plans. When we say “inclusion”, do we mean the same here in Russia and beyond its boarders? How inclusion is integrated in project school programmes? What lessons do we learn from Student Voice? What are our plans for the future of the 3-year project and after? (21

Wolfgang Jantzen Wolfgang Jantzen is teacher for primary and secondary schools (University of Giessen), diploma psychologist (University of Giessen) and also teacher for special schools (University of Marburg). He received his PhD in education at the University of Marburg in 1972. From 1966-1971 he was a teacher at a school for mentally retarded. From 1971-1974 he was a lecturer at the institute for remedial education of the University of Marburg. As of May 1974 he was holder of the chair for special education and inclusion (general theory) at the University of Bremen. Here he worked in the tertiary education of teachers for special education and inclusion as well as of diploma educationalists. Under his instructions more than 30 theses as well as several habilitations have been made. He was holder of the famous Wilhelm-Wundt-chair for psychology at the Karl-Marx University of Leipzig in the former GDR from October 1987 - March 1988. He undertook numerous lectureships at different universities in Germany and abroad. He was an expert for the 11th youth report of the BRD. He has been retired since August 2006. Its scientific main emphases were the development of an inclusive education as well as deinstitutionalisation of special institutions for severely retarded in practical regard. In theoretical regard he developed a general theory of being handicapped and disabled as being isolated. Here he worked in the traditions of cultural historical and activity theory (Vygotsky, Leontyev et al.) also as in traditions of Marx and Spinoza. He developed this theory as a synthetically human science encompassing nearly the whole spectrum of human sciences (Published 1987/1990, 2 Vol., entitled "Allgemeine Behindertenpädagogik"). His present main focuses are among others philosophy, sociology and (neuro) psychology of intersubjective behavior and also political philosophy of disability. He is editor of the forthcoming encyclopaedia in 10 volumes "Disability, Education, Participation" (Kohlhammer Publishing House, Stuttgart.). http://www.basaglia.de
