The current opportunities and challenges facing Britain’s education system and its fabric are unprecedented. Education authorities are re-assessing their building stock and resources. In some areas refurbishment is the need; in others demographic changes mean schools have an opportunity to develop underused sites for cross-subsidy to bring about education transformation.
PTE has key skills to offer and experience in this sector dating back to the 1980s. Its most innovative recent work includes schemes to build new primary schools, co-located with keyworker homes, community facilities and commercial space. Our cross-subsidy model for funding schools from flats above won Innovation of the Year in the Regeneration Awards 2005.
