s an E editor of Food Stuff, it was my goal to give the reader something enjoyable for the holidays this month. December is about family and coming together with our loved ones. It’s about giving to the ones we loves and to giving to our communities. December is one of my favorite months. There’s something almost magical about walking down a snow covered street when every house is decked out in lights. Although this is LA so when are the streets ever covered in snow right? One can still wish for a white Christmas in Southern California. This edition is filled with yummy recipes for the holidays and great gift ideas for anyone in the family. Making Healthy ChoiceS

FOB

Learning to balance your diet.

Have you ever looked at the ingridients label and not recognized one ingridient? There’s many ingridients in the food we eat that we don’t really understand. Figuring out what to eat and what not too eat can be tricky. That’s why it’s good to do some research on the ingridients in what you’re eating.

When it comes to fruits and vegetables, try going to your local market where you know they’ve been locally grown without any preservatives. Taking out sweets completely can be difficult so try finding sweet healthy alternatives. Try using natural honey as a sweetener rather than sugar,

eat dark chocolate over milk, and look for non-fat and lowsugar desserts. That’s why it’s good to do some research on the ingridients inwhat you’re eating. Have you ever looked at the ingridients label and not recognized one ingridient?

Washington

There’s more to vacation than beaches and palm trees.

FOB When people think of a vacation, they think warm weather, sand in theirs toes laying by the beach with a cocktail in hand. What about all the other amazing places you’re missing out on? I’ve had the chance to visit Washington a few times, and it is a sight for sore eyes. You get the perks of the city life in Seattle, where you can visit Pike’s Place, an above and below ground market, that sells about everything. Then you have lush forests outside of the city.

You can drive about a half hour outside of the city and enjoy trees upon trees. You may also run into a few hidden beaches. If you aren’t a winter person, you can visit in the summer when the weather is warm. The coast if filled with cities and nightlife, the middle is lush with forests while the east is much drier and desert like. No matter what oart you visit, you’re sure to see some amazing sites.

I was able to witness the changing of the windows to their new theme “Steam Punk.” It’s been two weeks and they are still working on some of the window displays. Hosting A Years Party H

osting a party is always fun and exciting, but can be stressful. Figuring out music, decorations, your outfit, but most importantly knowing what to serve your guests, because everyone gets hungry at a party. It’s good to know what kind of food will appease to your guests the most. It’s good to know what foods will fill your guests up but not put them in a food coma.

APPETIZERS

hen it comes to New Years Eve, one thinks of glitter and glam, party hats, whistles and the final countdown to midnight. But as we get older, staying up until midnight gets a little hard. That’s why choosing the right dishes, food that isn’t too bloating, is so important. Nobody wants their guests falling asleep before the final countdown. If you choose to have the whole shabang, appe-

tizers, entree and dessert, plan on choosing food that is light and not too bloating. With appetizers, it’s goof to go with a dish that’s small in size. Going with simple easy dishes such as meatballs, mini pizzas with veggies and greens, or toast with veggies and greens. But as we get older, staying up until midnight gets a little hard.
