TRAVEL
INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HUNTING BY SIERRA YOUNG
mericans dominate the second home market, thanks in part to an abundance of direct flights to Costa Rica from many major cities in the United States. There is also strong interest from Canadian and European buyers, agents say. The majority of foreign buyers prefer the country’s numerous beach communities along the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. “They come here to vacation, fall in love and want to buy,” said Rodolfo Herrera, a real estate lawyer and licensed notary based in San Isidro, San José. Buyers in the province of San José, and particularly in Escazú — which Mr. Herrera likens to a cosmopolitan American city such as Miami — are mostly people who have business in the capital, along with retirees or people close to retiring who are looking to move to a temperate climate.

it is not a natural feeling and your mind will initially have some resistance. Once you feel focused, dial into your pupils and audibly ask yourself: “Are you happy?” Relax. Pay attention to how fast your mind is reacting. Your mind is pondering the circumstance of being faced with the fact
that you cannot lie to yourself. We are always looking at our reflection, but generally we look only to confirm how others will see us. We spend the majority of our time shaping our image of how we wish to be perceived. Rarely do we take the time to make an attempt to contact our innerself.

here’s been a bit of a debate going on in tiny living circles about which is better: tiny houses built from scratch, or customized trailers and campers that have been retrofitted for full-time living. Tiny Houses: 1. They look like a house. For many who choose to go the tiny house path, this kind of structure looks more like what you might think a house might look like, only smaller. It’s a matter of aesthetics, and for some, this is important. According to many tiny house
advocates, a tiny home can feel more solid, well-built, spacious and permanent, and that can make all the difference for someone who’s going to downsize to something less than 300 square feet. “We didn’t want to feel like we were on an interminable camping trip,” says Carrie of Clothesline Tiny Homes (see our post of their home here). 2. Tiny homes are more weatherproofed. Tiny homes are generally better insulated and winterproofed than campers, since they are custom-built from the ground up. Owners can choose what
kind of insulation and heating and cooling options suit them and their local climate, whereas RVs are generally not built to be lived in during the winter (though of course, one could tow it somewhere warm). 3. Customization, customization. Tiny homes come in all shapes, sizes, builds and aesthetics. To date, we’ve seen modernist gems, Japanese inspired ones (tea house, a grand 280 squarefooter), gypsy-style caravans, even ones with a bit of Indian flair or gothic charm. The list goes on. 5.
Last but not least, you are able to own a mortgage free home. There is nothing wrong with travel trailers, campers, motorhomes and bus conversions. Travel trailers, RVs and motorhomes are for those who want to be on the go. See the world. Travel the country. And tiny houses are for those who want to stay in one place, hold a job so mew here, run a b u si n e ss a n d enjoy l iv ing

the si m ple life. In conclusion, tiny houses are for living in full-time and only towing when you decide to move. Like once a year or less. Campers, travel trailers, and motorhomes are for those of us who want to travel the country. For most people who love simplicity, they usually go for living in a tiny house rather than getting a RV or camper. Being able to customize your whole place from top to bottom really gets most people hooked. Tiny houses
are unique and one of a kind; definitely not something you can get off a lot that has a identical twin right next to it. Since you can customize your tiny house, homeowners tend to put their own personalities into their house that they will be able to live in. Rv’s and Campers are great but they are not made for stability and are not for people who want to settle down but in a small space. Tiny homes are taking off and are definitely making a game changer.
