CELEBRATING ARTS PARTNERS
THROUGH VIBRANT FALL EXHIBITIONS
Each year, the Lakewood Cultural Center has the opportunity to collaborate with local and regional arts partners for exhibitions that celebrate the artistic talent in our city and state. These partner organizations work to make our cultural community inspiring and vibrant. Two such arts partners are the Lakewood Arts Council (LAC) and the Colorado Watercolor Society, both of which work tirelessly to support the arts and artists in Lakewood and beyond.
Now that facilities have reopened – and after LAC’s exciting allvirtual Artists Choice Digital Exhibition last year – we are thrilled to announce the return of the LAC Artists Choice in-person show in the Lakewood Cultural Center’s Mezzanine Gallery this fall. Artists who participate in the LAC exhibition are locally engaged and exceptionally talented artists working across mediums and thematic approaches. This year, the show will be juried by Lakewood resident and rising art star, Collin Parson, who recently completed the Lakewood 50th Anniversary public artwork, “Echoes and Reflections.” The LAC Artists Choice show will be on display from September 3 to December 30, with an opening reception Thursday, September 23, 5-7 p.m. The Colorado Watercolor Society has partnered with the Lakewood Cultural Center for more than five years to present its juried Annual Members Show, highlighting the most exceptional work of its participating members. This exhibition puts on full display the enormous range, technical variety and artistic application of the watercolor medium.
After a year hiatus, it is an honor to welcome back the Colorado Watercolor Society for an exhibition in the North Gallery and the Lakewood Cultural Center Lobby, opening October 11 and running through January 4, 2022.
We are so looking forward to welcoming the community to our fall exhibitions. It is great to once again be bringing Lakewood joy by lining our walls with outstanding art by local artists!

LandMark Exhibition Now through October 18
Scan for audio guide.
You still have time to explore the celebrated exhibition, LandMark, featuring 10 public artworks in Lakewood parks. LandMark, curated and created by local artists, is on view through October 18. Inspired by the disruption of COVID-19 and resulting insights about our natural world, the artists worked with city staff in Lakewood’s arts and parks divisions to install site-specific sculptures in the spring. Since that time, park visitors have enjoyed discovering the artworks along some of their favorite paths and taking part in events such as artist’s talks, a painted rock scavenger hunt and nature tours led by our Lakewood Parks naturalist.
Additional LandMark artworks are on view in the neighboring city of Arvada. “LandMark not only involves collaboration across our city. This is a project that unites communities across city lines,” says Lakewood Arts Programming Curator Laine Godsey.
