As this Activity Guide arrives in your mailbox, it marks a season of change. Kids are returning to school, the busy summer season is coming to a close, and the leaves will soon change across our community’s many parks.
This year has marked a time of transition for the Hyland Hills Parks and Recreation District as well. We started 2023 with the launch of our new look and logo, welcomed two new Board Members, embarked on a strategic planning process throughout the summer, invited guests into the beautiful Cottonwood Lodge restaurant, and we’ll be opening the doors to the new Hyland Hills Sports Center this September. Many of these changes have long been desired by the community and will significantly improve how we serve the residents of Hyland Hills.
As we enter a new season and a new era of Hyland Hills, there is one thing that will never change: our commitment to providing first-class parks, open spaces, facilities, and recreation programs for you - our residents. In this Guide, you will find a full array of fun fall, winter, and springtime activities for the whole family.
This autumn, you and your loved ones can enjoy our annual Spooktacular event at Adventure Golf & Raceway, a new kids’ Pumpkin Carving Contest, a Turkey Toss competition, and more. When the snow starts to fall, be sure to check out our winter break sports camps, visits with Santa, Holiday Lights at Adventure Golf & Raceway, and endless ice skating and hockey events at the Ice Centre at the Promenade. Come spring, mark your calendars for our annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Daddy Daughter Dance, and the start of next year’s growing season at Grippa Gardens.
We also encourage you to check out our expanded Fitness Membership, which now offers access to the many amenities at both FIT by Hyland Hills and the Hyland Hills Sports Center. Don’t forget to apply for your Hyland Hills Discount Card to get the best price on our fitness memberships, recreation programs, and facilities including Adventure Golf & Raceway, the Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills, and Water World! In addition, your Hyland Hills Discount Card gets you discounted pricing at facilities operated by our partners at the City of Westminster.
As always, we greatly appreciate your active engagement in, and support of, Hyland Hills Parks & Recreation. We hope you find many ways to stay involved in your community, connect with neighbors, and make new memories in this season’s Activity Guide.
Thank you from all of us at Hyland Hills. We look forward to continuing to serve you as we have for nearly 70 years!
The
Hills’ Board of Directors meets on the first Tuesday of each month. Additionally, a study session is held on the third Tuesday of every month. These meetings are open to the public. For times and locations, please visit hylandhills.org.

The
Hyland Hills Park & Recreation District provides first-class parks, open spaces, facilities, and recreation programs that enrich and promote a healthy lifestyle, create memorable experiences, and build relationships between the District and its community while valuing equity and inclusion.
We are excited to invite you to the new Hyland Hills Sports Center at Carroll Butts Park! We are hosting a Grand Opening event in September, but our young gymnasts are already enjoying the expansive gymnastics area. The rest of the nearly 50,000-square-foot facility will soon be filled with others enjoying the indoor walking track, multi-purpose rooms, fitness rooms, basketball and pickleball courts, and stunning patio overlooking the park! We thank the surrounding community for their patience and support through this project; please visit page 18 for more information on the Center including hours, amenities, and memberships.
The Hyland Hills staff hit the town this summer to hear from residents about what they’d like to see in the community over the next 10 years. We’ve already received many helpful responses, but we’re not done yet. Please scan the QR code to share your thoughts about existing and potential parks, programs, and facilities. The feedback you share will be assessed along with in-depth infrastructure and financial evaluations to provide Hyland Hills with a clear roadmap for the next decade. Thank you for joining us in making our community a better place to live, work, and play!
Whether you’re looking for a rewarding career or a seasonal gig, Hyland Hills Parks & Recreation has plenty of opportunities to grow your skills, meet new people, and make a difference in your community! We hire for jobs across the District all year-round, with a significant increase in job openings in the spring as we prepare for the summer season. Scan the QR code to view current positions and stay tuned to HylandHills.org for future opportunities!
The new Cottonwood Lodge isn’t just a great place to grab a bite after a round of golf. With its airy patio, dual fireplaces, and spacious banquet rooms, it’s also a fantastic place to host your next holiday party, corporate retreat, family get-together, or wedding celebration! Just let us know what you envision for your event, and we will work with you to bring it to life. Learn more at CottonwoodLodge.com and visit us anytime for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, or dessert!
It’s been a busy year for our Parks department as numerous projects are underway across the District! Earlier this year, we started installing new signage, baskets, and tee pads at our popular Badlands Disc Golf Courses at Camenisch Park. We are also in the process of creating a one-ofa-kind hillside play area at Sherrelwood Park, building new shelters at Clear Creek Valley Park, and replacing the ballfield turf at the Sports Complex with synthetic turf to reduce water consumption and increase play time. We’ve also been pursuing grant funding to add a bike park in the southeast corner of Clear Creek Valley Park in partnership with the City of Arvada, and developing a Master Plan for Carroll Butts Park in partnership with the City of Westminster.
Don’t miss out on what’s happening in Hyland Hills! This Activity Guide is delivered directly to residents twice a year (April and September), but there are many ways you can stay up-todate. Visit HylandHills.org to sign up for our monthly e-newsletter and/or follow us on your favorite social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at @HHParksRec!
At Hyland Hills, it’s important to us that every child has the opportunity to find fun, friends, and new skills through recreation and cultural programs.
That’s why the Hyland Hills Foundation was formed over 30 years ago. This 100% volunteer-run, 501c3 nonprofit organization raises funds to provide recreational grants for kids in the community, ensuring that no child is turned away due to their family’s financial circumstance.
Since its inception in 1992, the Hyland Hills Foundation has granted more than $1 million, enabling thousands of children from low-income families to enjoy a myriad of sports and activities. A signature achievement of the Foundation is funding the “Be-A-Fish Learn to Swim Program,” which has provided more than 12,000 local kids with the life-saving skill of swimming.
To apply for a recreational grant for your child, please see Page 40 for details.
To donate to the Foundation, please visit HylandHillsFoundation.org or scan the QR code. Mark your calendars and give on Colorado Gives Day, December 5th, to make your gift go even further!
Plus, stay tuned for next year’s exciting Foundation fundraising events including our annual Cornhole Tournament, Golf Tournament, and Flip Flop Friday!
