Lisa Rigsby Peterson, Executive Director, helped open the Lone Tree Arts Center in 2011 as its first Executive Director. Over her thirty-one year career in performing arts management, she has been a part of many of Colorado’s leading cultural organizations—including The Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Curious Theatre Company, and PHAMALY; served on multiple arts and cultural boards and committees, and also worked abroad. A Colorado resident since 1975, Lisa is a graduate of the University of Colorado and the Yale School of Drama.

Paul Ackerman, Technical Director, is a native of Long Island, NY. Paul received his degree in Technical Theatre and Design from the University of Virginia. He has worked in Atlanta with The Alliance Theatre/Atlanta Children’s Theatre, Atlanta Ballet, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Paul joined the team at LTAC prior to its opening in 2011 after serving as the Senior General Manager of Production for Blue Man Group.

Courtney Ozaki Moch, Operations and Business Director, returned to her home state of Colorado after residing in New York City, where she received her MFA degree in Performing Arts Management from Brooklyn College. As a producer and arts manager in NYC, she worked with cultural and interdisciplinary institutions, including the inaugural PROTOTYPE festival, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts, and The Joyce Theater. Her prior experience includes work with the Aspen Music Festival, as well as the Boulder Chamber Orchestra.

Leigh Chandler, Marketing Director, joined the Lone Tree Arts Center staff in the fall of 2015, when she moved to Colorado. Prior to her move, she served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, Vermont for eight years. Leigh grew up outside of New York City and is a graduate of Cornell University.

At Your Service The House Manager is responsible for the overall front-of-house operation. Ushers (dressed in white and black with green scarves/ ties) can direct patrons who have questions or concerns to the House Manager.

Late arrivals will be seated at a suitable break in the performance, and at the discretion of the house manager and/or artist. Late seating may not be possible in some cases. In consideration of all theater-goers, please arrive in plenty of time for the scheduled curtain.

Cameras and recording devices are not allowed in the theater. The taking of photos during a performance may violate our contract with the performers and producers. In addition it can distract performers and negatively affect their safety and the show. Pre- and post-show photography also is not permitted. Cell phones and any other electronic devices may not be used in the theater. The use of a laser pointer at any time by any patron subjects that patron to expulsion from the theater without a ticket refund.

Children

Smoking

Children are welcome in our theater, but bringing infants to a performance is highly discouraged, as they can become a distraction to performers and other audience members. Each individual must be ticketed to enter the theater and no babes-in-arms will be permitted. The Arts Center may deny entry to any person accompanied by another who may become a disruption to the performers or audience, and may likewise remove disruptive patrons from the audience. Occasionally, individual productions may have recommended age limits. It is always up to the parent/guardian to make the determination if an event is age appropriate for his/her child. Refunds are at the discretion of the Lone Tree Arts Center Box Office.

The Lone Tree Arts Center is a smoke-free facility. Smoking e-cigarettes is not permitted inside the building.

Refreshments Food is not allowed in the theater. Drinks purchased at our concessions stand are permitted in the theater. At most performances, you may pre-order a drink to avoid intermission lines.

Restrooms Restrooms are located in the center of the lobby near the front entrance, as well as on the north side of the lobby near the north entrance, across from the Event Hall. Wheelchair accessible restrooms are located near the north entrance.

Parking The Lone Tree Arts Center has a large, free on-site parking lot as well as a convenient drop-off point at the front entry. The parking lot can be found on the south side of the building. Patrons are also permitted to park across Sky Ridge Avenue in the Target parking lot.

Hearing Assistance The Lone Tree Arts Center has installed an inductive hearing loop. The loop system broadcasts directly into hearing aids that are equipped with a T-coil switch (tele-coil or telephone switch). For hearing aids with a T-coil switch, simply turn that switch and sound is broadcast directly to the hearing aid. For hearing aids without a T-coil switch, wireless headset receivers are also available free of charge at the Box Office.

Presenting Professional Theater

When the Lone Tree Arts Center opened its doors six years ago, we dreamed of presenting our own self-produced professional theater. It was in our plan, and we knew itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d take awhile. After an incredible few years partnering with the Arvada Center to host their productions in our home, we began co-producing with Starkey Productions to present some LTAC favorites, including Home for the Holidays and Big River. Finally, in 2015, we were ready to strike out on our own. Our first major theatrical production was The 39 Steps, a hilarious tour-de-force based on Hitchcockâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s classic movie.

UPCOMING THIS SEASON...

It’s no small task to put together a professional theater production. From determining which show to present, to getting the rights to present, to shaping the artistic team and the cast, important decisions that affect the production are made at every turn. Once those decisions get made, we start to see the production come together, from cast read-throughs of the script to initial drawings of the set and wardrobe, to actual rehearsals. It’s always an amazing time when everything comes together on our stage. A particular highlight is last year’s The Explorers Club, for which we won a Colorado Theatre Guild Henry Award for Michael R. Duran’s incredible set design, and for which we were nominated in two other categories—Outstanding Sound Design, and Outstanding Costume Design. We also experimented with turning the Event Hall into an 80s high school reunion with Reunion ’85— complete with yearbooks. This world premiere earned us a Henry Award nomination for Outstanding New Musical or Play. But we’re not stopping there. This season, we are thrilled to present three theatrical offerings, including our largest-scale production to date.

We start in December with It’s a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play. Randal Myler, who directed Big River and Sylvia, returns to direct this heartwarming holiday favorite based on the movie. Beloved actor Jamie Horton returns to Denver to take on the role of George Bailey. In February, we present the world premiere of Muscle Shoals: I’ll Take You There, featuring the music and stories of the famed recording studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Then in April, we undertake our biggest production yet: EVITA. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s masterpiece will grace our stage under the direction of Benjamin E. Klein, who was the associate director for the hit play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and the resident director for War Horse on Broadway. The Lone Tree Arts Center’s growing reputation for presenting quality professional theater is the reason why talent such as Benjamin Klein, Jamie Horton, and Randal Myler want to work with us. We look forward to continuing to produce incredible theater for our audiences in the years to come.

WHO’S WHO IN THE CAST MILES PORTEK (Host) Miles is a native Australian. Born in Sydney, he’s had a rambling journey through time and space. From improvised comedy to stand up, Miles currently believes the best way to fix the world is through the inspiration and empowerment of children, because really, if we don’t invest in that there’s no point living. He’s been an avid volunteer in 826NYC, a creative writing and homework support center in Brooklyn, New York, and at the Martian Embassy in Sydney. When he’s not hosting fantastic dinosaur puppet shows he’s normally working in a bar, in a sound booth, or swimming somewhere. Of course none of this matters, because there’s no point unless we’re inspiring children or helping them create something incredible, so stop reading this and get out and do that. JOE AHOLT (Puppeteer) studied theatre arts performance at the University of Texas Arlington. He is excited to be part of his first tour with Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live. Other theatre credits include Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing (Fort Worth Theatre), Prince Philip in The Lion in Winter (Theatre Rocks!), Rhinoceros in The Island of Doctor Moreau (Hip Pocket Theatre), and Pee-Wee Reese in the Dallas Children’s Theater’s national tour of Most Valuable Player: The Jackie Robinson Story. BRENDAN MALAFRONTE (Puppeteer) After graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and completing an internship at the Puppet Kitchen in NYC, Brendan ended up with one foot in musical theater and the other in puppetry. Puppetry credits include Ludo’s Broken Bride (NYMFoutstanding performance award), Losing it with John Stamos, Rescue Rue (NYMF world premiere), the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, the 2014 Sesame Street Workshop, and the national/ international tours of John Tartaglia’s ImaginOcean, Thomas and Friends Live! On Stage, and Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live. Brendan is also a freelance puppet designer and builder. www.brendanmalafronte.com

ERYN MALAFRONTE (Puppeteer) is thrilled to be performing in Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live, reuniting her love of puppets and dinosaurs again! Her most recent credits include: Urinetown The Musical (Pennywise), and Chamber Theater’s national tours of Encore!! and Eureka! MIRON GUSSO (Puppeteer) is extremely happy to be returning to Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live after previously performing it at the Dallas Zoo in the summer of 2015. He celebrates his fifth year as a T-Rex with the company. Miron is a third generation puppeteer based in Cleveland, Ohio. He is an alumnus of the University of Connecticut’s Puppetry Arts Graduate Program, where he also designed and built puppets for Connecticut Repertory Theatre. Miron has also been seen as a dinosaur on Radiolab’s live show Apocolyptical, which toured in 2013, and at Field Station: Dinosaurs (NJ). Other favorite credits include The Center for Puppetry Arts (GA), and Doc Brown at Universal Studios Japan, Osaka. SCOTT WRIGHT (Director/Writer) Scott is the Artistic Director and co-founder of Erth Visual & Physical, Inc., which began in 1990. He trained as a dancer and choreographer in Victoria in southeast Australia, and is a multiskilled artist incorporating puppetry (one of his greatest loves), movement, acting, aerial, stilts, and pyrotechnics. Currently he is working with renowned Italian director Chiara Guidi and has just finished production on Erth’s latest show, Prehistoric Aquarium, in which the audience is submerged in a theatrical ancient underwater environment, witnessing the thrills and spills of aquatic life. Scott has also produced work based upon the last thylacine (the largest known carnivorous marsupial of modern times) kept in Australian captivity. Some of Scott’s personal interests include the survival of indigenous folklore, exploring how ancient stories can be retrieved and presented to new audiences, which has taken him into remote communities throughout Australia.

He is also fiercely active in not only making work that is inclusive for children with and/or without disabilities but also making work with adults with disabilities as collaborators. GEMMA PEPPER (Executive Producer – Erth) Gemma works across a diverse spectrum of creative projects, including community cultural development, theater, festivals, new media, and policy/program development. She is an experienced producer and creative producer. As well as undertaking a range of project-based producing roles, she has worked as Associate Producer for physical theatre companies Stalker and Marrugeku and has an ongoing producing relationship with Perth-based Side Pony Productions. Gemma worked as the Creative Producer for the Enlighten festival of Canberra 2011 – 2014 and is currently Erth’s Executive Producer based in Sydney. SHARON KERR (Associate Director) Sharon is Executive Director and a founding member of Erth. Originally trained as a school teacher majoring in drama, Sharon has much performance experience. Prior to helping form Erth, she spent five years in contemporary dance theater with emphasis on improvisational movement. Puppetry became a natural extension of this. Her roles within Erth are many and varied. Contributing to creative and performance direction, Sharon continues to perform whenever she can. Sharon has also steered the company for many years as its key administrator. Some of her performance highlights include her aerial harness and flying work memorable amongst these are from atop the sails of the Sydney Opera House, the spire of St. Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne, and from the 30th floor of the Ngee Ann skyscraper in Singapore. STEVE HOWARTH (Designer) As Head of Design and a founding and full-time member of Erth Visual & Physical, Inc., Steve designs for most of the company’s productions and external commissions. From the Erth studio/ workshop he supervises a team of artists in the creation of the puppets, sets, props,

costumes, and the associated elements that are on constant tour around the globe. Over the last twenty years in this principal role, he has worked with a wide variety of people, organizations, and across numerous media. He oversees the daily production of giant, teeth-gnashing dinosaurs and inflatable monsters that spring from traditional fine arts and textiles work. Steve also mentors design students from tertiary institutions and assists emerging artists in the implementation of their respective crafts. BRYONY ANDERSON (Specialist Puppet Design) Bryony is a designer, maker, artist, and wannabe scientist based in the forested hills of New South Wales. Her puppets and constructions for visual performance have toured nationally and internationally with many Australian circus, puppetry, visual performance, and theater companies, as well as appearing in museums, festivals, and documentaries. Solo exhibitions have ranged from interactive puppetry installations and handmade projection machinery to intricate illustration, all investigating a salvaged aesthetic. She has conducted community workshops in the Central Desert, rural Victoria, Western Sydney, and across the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. In 2011, she began working with her local community to seed a creative industry of skilled artisans making high caliber work from frugal resources. A three-year project was spawned that drew in artists, composers, scientists, and over 1200 community participants, and resulted in an intricately detailed forest installation made entirely from stuff that was headed to landfill. The Frugal Forest is now on tour. frugalforest. oneoffmakery.net.au PHIL DOWNING (Composer) Phil has a distinct history working with interactive multimedia. After years spent performing music, Phil set about reinventing his means of expression through music, by creating unique and obscure musical instruments. This inspiration has led to the creation of numerous soundtracks for theatrical productions (1999–2012).

Delivery of video and imagery being an obvious progression, Phil has also worked with various technologies to incorporate physical interaction (with performers and audience members) into installations and performances, utilizing technologies such as infra-red, sonar and pressure sensors, Arduino programmable circuit boards, and Kinect sensors. Working with Erth, Phil has developed systems for automated delivery of sound, light, and visual effects, and has designed stand-alone sound systems for their various creature puppets. “This one’s going to be a mad professor!” his grandma proclaimed upon his birth…She was possibly correct! MICHAEL GLOVER (Tour Manager) is a navy veteran who served as an electrician and supervisor. At the conclusion of his navy career Michael attended San Diego State University, graduating with a degree in Design and Technology for the theatre. Michael is honored to join the company where he will be able to contribute his experience in all facets of theatrical production to the magic of Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo. DEBORAH BARR (General Manager) has worked as a production and stage manager for dance, theater, opera, and ceremonial events for numerous companies and producing entities. She worked for many years as Events Manager at the University of Texas at Austin and as a Company Manager on tour, and welcomes the opportunity to manage dinosaurs BRAD SIMON ORGANIZATION (Exclusive North American Booking) Since 1983, The Brad Simon Organization has provided tour booking services for a diverse roster of artists and productions in a wide variety of performance venues, including performing art centers, commercial theaters, amphitheaters, arenas, festivals, fairs and theme parks. RED TAIL ENTERTAINMENT (Producer) Founded by Phillip Drayer, Red Tail Entertainment produces a wide range of spectacular live entertainment and presents a variety of live performances by headline entertainers throughout the U.S. In addition to producing Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live, the company most recently produced the Broadway hit A Night with Janis Joplin. Through its subsidiary, 35 Concerts, the company presents headline entertainment at venues throughout the United States. ERTH VISUAL & PHYSICAL INC. (Producer) Since its beginnings in 1990, Erth has sought to provide audiences with eye-popping visual experiences, giant puppetry, stilt-walkers, inflatable environments, and aerial and flying creatures. Bryan Smith is an award winning filmmaker based out of Squamish, British Columbia. His first documentary, 49 Megawatts, received acclaim both for its amazing kayaking footage and insightful exploration of the controversy over British Columbiaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s river-based energy production. An online version went viral and led to two feature-length sea kayaking films. His work has appeared at numerous film festivals across the world, including the prized Banff and Telluride Mountain Film Festivals. In the past few years, Bryan has built on his adventure film roots and developed a strong reputation in both TV documentary and commercial cinematography. With a knack for storytelling, an ability to assemble great teams, and an insane work ethic, his client list has grown to include National Geographic, Discovery, Disney, Red Bull, Patagonia, New Belgium Brewing, Arcteryx, and more. In 2010 he earned a National Geographic Expedition Grant for his work in Kamchatka, Russia, and launched into digital media, coproducing and directing The Season web TV series. He has worked as both a Field Producer and Director of Photography for National Geographic Television on shows including Alaska Wing Men, Explorer, Nat Geo Amazing, and Monster Fish. Most recently, he coproduced and directed The Man Who Can Fly, a 60-minute special for the National Geographic Channel Explorer series. With extensive experience on Red, Alexa, Phantom, Sony F900, Panasonic Varicam, and just about every ENG camera platform, his experience at getting cameras into difficult and remote locations makes him an incredible asset to any production. Bryan brings a diverse perspective to non-fiction filmmaking, having worked on TV, independent documentary, and several commercial projects.

Scott O’Neil Looking for some classical flair this season? Look no further than Scott O’Neil and the recently revived Rosetta Music Society at the Arts Center for two performances in the 2016–17 season. Since stepping down from his nine-year post as resident conductor at the Colorado Symphony Orchestra last May, Scott has kept himself busy. He’s been writing arrangements and orchestrations for renowned artists including Ingrid Michaelson, Eileen Ivers, and Bela Fleck; guest conducting with the Toledo and Tucson symphonies; and working with Colorado Public Radio to do a new series of radio shorts and some longer segments about “Lives of the Great Composers.” But it’s clear that the Rosetta Music Society is really what gets him excited. The Rosetta Music Society is a small ensemble of the best musicians that the Denver Metro community has to offer. Most are members of the Colorado Symphony and are excited to have the opportunity to perform pieces that they otherwise wouldn’t get to play. In addition to performing the music, Scott and his ensemble will discuss the history of the music that they are so passionate about. Scott says that he felt that there was a serious lack of programs that went deeper than just surface level on these classical pieces, if even that. He will dive deep into the pieces, hopefully giving the audience a new appreciation for the composers and pieces that they maybe only had a passing familiarity with. The first outing at the Arts Center will be Bach’s A Musical Offering. With this program, Scott is hoping to clear up some misconceptions about

Bach, dusting off the image that we might have of the classic composer. The program will consist of fugues and canons by Bach that are rarely performed. The second outing will be Shuffle, which will have the best of the best of the best. It will be a mix of modern and not-so-modern composers, probably with some more Bach thrown in as well. As Scott says, you can’t have the best of the best without Sebastian. While the show will be accessible to all classical music lovers, it will also be an opportunity for patrons to challenge themselves and their thoughts about classical music. The potential for the program is limitless, especially with the caliber of musicians that he’s recruited. The intimacy of the Arts Center is what made Scott so excited to bring the Rosetta Music Society here. While the rush from performing for thousands in a symphony hall is great, he’s excited to see the faces of his audience. He can’t wait to share his knowledge and passion with the audience and take them along on a musical journey. He said that these concerts will be “a unique thing among unique things, like a white rhinoceros.” These are definitely two performances that you won’t want to miss!

Scientific and Cultural Facilities District In 1989, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) came into existence thanks to the support of metro area residents committed to ensuring the future of such treasured institutions as the Denver Zoo, the Museum of Nature and Science, the Denver Art Museum, and the Denver Botanic Gardens. By approving a one half of one percent sales tax, voters helped guarantee that not only those organizations, but dozens and dozens of other arts and cultural organizations would receive the support they needed to help them grow. Now, a generation later, residents throughout the metro area have been sharing in the bounty that SCFD has made possible. Millions of families bring their children to the Zoo, the Denver Art Museum, the Museum of Nature and Science, and the other 300 cultural and scientific organizations that receive funding each year. Every single school in the SCFD District has received an in-school program from an SCFDfunded organization. SCFD free days allow families to explore places like the Children’s Museum at no cost. Date nights happen at late night events at area museums and arts groups. At the Lone Tree Arts Center, we have used our SCFD funding to celebrate the generations that we serve through our programs. From Seedlings for the very youngest audience members and their parents, to Passport to Culture for school-aged children and their families, to Arts in the Afternoon and senior matinees for our older patrons, we use SCFD money to make sure that the generational investment in arts and culture made by voter support of SCFD continues to be a wise one. We use SCFD funds to bring artists to Lone Tree that might never have thought to perform in Colorado before, and we use SCFD funds to create new programs like our award-winning sensory friendly work. The SCFD’s 1¢ on $10 sales and use tax in the seven-county District is up for renewal in this year’s election. Voters in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas (except for Castle Rock and Larkspur), and Jefferson counties will decide this November whether to reauthorize the District. We are grateful for the investment that metro area voters made in the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District a generation ago. It has made much of our work possible, and has opened a world of other possibilities to all of us fortunate enough to call the metro-Denver area home.

A cast of some of Denver’s most talented actors—including a special return to Denver by Jamie Horton—will bring this story to life in a way that you haven’t seen before. A big part of many traditions is the yearly viewing of It’s a Wonderful Life. And when you make that classic story into a 1940s radio broadcast, complete with a sound effect artist, commercial jingles, and a flashing Applause sign? You’ve got one satisfying holiday excursion. Everyone knows the story of George Bailey, the “richest man” of Bedford Falls, and his guardian angel Clarence, who shows George how much of a difference he’s made in the world. Directed by Frank Capra, the 1946 movie version starring James Stewart has warmed the hearts of millions of people all over the world, and has been recognized by the American Film Institute as one of the best 100 American films ever made. This year, LTAC is producing this classic story, but with a twist. Our production will share the story as a live radio play! A cast of some of Denver’s most talented actors will bring this story to life in a way that you probably haven’t seen before. The ensemble will take on multiple roles, switching characters at the drop of a hat. One of the most unique facets of this production will be the onstage sound effects. Instead of pre-recorded sounds, there will be a number of objects on stage that will help bring George Bailey’s story to life, right before your eyes. The show will be directed by Denver and Arts Center favorite, Randal Myler. Last season, he directed both The Explorers Club and the John Denver Holiday Concert, and will be back in February for the world premiere of Muscle Shoals: I’ll Take You There. The Chicago Sun-Times said the production is “one of the best holiday shows around. Fresh and inventive. Highly recommended.” It’s a new but nostalgic twist on the classic holiday story, sure to be a feast for the whole family.
