ASEAN Ceramics will be held from 30 November to 2 December
MMI Asia and Asian Exhibition Services Ltd. (AES) held a press conference in Bangkok on 23 March, to announce the 5th edition of ASEAN Ceramics (Thailand) scheduled to take place later this year. This fair is Southeast Asia’s leading international exhibition of machinery, technology and materials for manufacturing advanced ceramics The exhibition and conference provide the ASEAN region access to the world’s most advanced technologies, equipment, solutions, knowledge and best practices in the ceramics industry. The event will provide an exceptional platform for industry leaders to come together, interact, network and share their expertise with prominent decision makers – while strengthening their foothold in one of the world’s most dynamic regions for the ceramics industry – Thailand.
Let’s hear from the speakers:
• "ASEAN Ceramics will bring the new technologies, latest innovation and new sources of raw material which include colour, glaze, pigments, minerals and clays for ceramics production. Products especially that are significant in the reduction of costs, energy and wastage in the manufacturing of ceramics." (Dr. Somnuk Sirisoonthorn, President, Thai
Ceramics Society) • "ASEAN Ceramics is the regional platform for local and international stakeholders in the ceramic industry to invest and seek business opportunities to improve production with improved export opportunities and full financial support from the banks." (Mr. Atuk Chirdkiattisak, Chairman, Ceramics Industry Club
Thailand, The Federation of Thai Industries, CICT) • “As ASEAN ceramic manufacturers garner a competitive edge in the world market, become abreast of the latest, and respond better to the sophisticated needs of different markets globally, ASEAN Ceramics will promote industry knowledge, collaboration and growth through an exchange of ideas, fostering relationships, bringing new technologies and solutions and opening markets further at this crucially strategic time." (Ms. Nichapa Yoswee, Senior Vice President, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau).
ASEAN Ceramics will be held at the IMPACT Forum Hall 4 in Bangkok. Join industry experts, top-notch exhibitors and key decision makers at the hottest meeting point for the ceramics industry in the region. No amount of digital interaction can match a face-to-face meeting. Therefore, ASEAN Ceramics will be held as an inperson event this year, after a 2-year long hiatus. ◆
The energy crisis in the ceramic industry and war force Cevisama to postpone the upcoming edition; Qualicer will be held
The crisis in the ceramic industry has led Feria Valencia to cancel international ceramic and bathroom event Cevisama, which had been due to run in June, and re-schedule it to take place from 27th February to 3rd March 2023. The decision was taken by Feria Valencia after the extraordinary meeting of the organizing committee (March 31st).
Cevisama had already had to re-schedule its traditional February date because of the sixth wave of the pandemic and has now cancelled the June date because of the critical situation currently being experienced by the mainstay of the fair -the ceramic industry- which is facing huge uncertainty and unpredictable outcomes following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The war has exacerbated the energy crisis that ceramic manufacturers have been having to deal with since the middle of last year. With the outbreak of war, the prices of gas have spiked sharply and unsustainably and the industry, which is gas intensive, is already seeing stoppages in production and adjustments to the workforce in the form of furloughs (ERTE).
In addition to the prohibitive cost of energy, other factors are making the industry crisis even more complicated: the supply of clay –most of which comes from Ukraine– and the general increase in the costs of other raw materials and logistics. The sector has also lost the Russian market, which was the 12th largest export market for Spanish ceramic last year.
Given the context, and even though there had been a very positive response to the fair from the demand side of the business –25% more visitors had registered than for previous editions– exhibitors had been pulling out of the commercial showcase to the point that it was no longer sufficiently attractive to warrant the fair taking place.
“We are very sorry for the problems the cancellation may cause, but what we have is an emergency situation that has arisen and that is preventing us from going ahead with the industry’s grand re-grouping we were so looking forward to. We do not want to let down the trade visitors who come every year from all over the world,” Cevisama director Ms Carmen Álvarez says.
Given the circumstances, the organising committee approved to celebrate the next edition of Cevisama from 27th February to 3rd March 2023. This means the fair will be returning to the time of year when it traditionally took place (first quarter). The move will make it the first commercial event of the year and the ideal time to show new products.
With the support of the Ministry of Economy, Feria Valencia has committed to make a significant investment in the next edition, with a dual objective: on the one hand, to make a qualitative leap in terms of the offering and content on show and, on the other, to ensure that all the leading Spanish and international businesses that have purchasing and specifying power attend Cevisama 2023.
❖ Qualicer
Despite the cancellation of Cevisama, Qualicer maintains its appointment on June 20 and 21. The world congress will continue to be the stage where international ceramic technicians present their latest innovations and key international figures share the latest trends and perspectives in the sector. The Organizing Committee continues to confirm outstanding sessions to close its program.

Formnext Forum Tokyo goes hybrid with new online event services
With travel restrictions due to COVID-19 still persisting around the world, Formnext Forum Tokyo will be held as a hybrid event in 2022. The new format will consist of three stages: an online pre-event seminar, the physical event, and an online post-event seminar. In addition, the physical event will see the introduction of flexible participation options in the shape of a digital exhibitor package. This will give exhibitors the option to participate online with table-top exhibits and onsite assistance. Formnext Forum Tokyo in this way takes a hybrid approach to encourage more opportunities for business interaction. Exhibitor registration is now open for the much-anticipated 2022 event, to be held from 27-28 September at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center, Hamamatsucho Building. A combination of product showcases and specialist seminars covering the latest trends in additive manufacturing (AM) will once again cater to a wide spectrum of trade visitors. The event has gradually expanded in scale since its launch in 2019, becoming well-known as a forum for business exchange and networking opportunities, where the next generation of intelligent industrial production comes together. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 edition was held as an entirely online seminar event, welcoming speakers from 11 companies and organisations, as well as 1,061 online participants over the two days. In 2020, the forum hosted 29 exhibitors and 710 visitors in Tokyo, with many exhibitors commending the event for bringing the industry closer together during a difficult time. Messe Frankfurt Japan, the organiser of Formnext Forum Tokyo, is confident of the success of the upcoming hybrid edition, based on the experience of last year's all-digital event and the physical event in 2020. With the business community facing its greatest challenge in recent years, Formnext Forum Tokyo 2022 will create timely opportunities for industry players to explore new markets. The forum will see experts converge from a wide range of industry sectors, including Solutions for additive manufacturing; Materials; Manufacturing preparation / Pre-processing; Component processing / Surface processing solution / Post processing; Contract manufacturing / Design / Product development; Tool and die making; Software; Quality management / Measurement; Certification and Standards; Research and development (R&D); Organisations and publishing companies.
