Let me use this opportunity to once again wish you a

Happy and Prosperous

I

2011!

am very expectant; looking forward to the things God will be doing this year. It promises to be a year in which there will be different varieties, levels and speed of growth in His name for each of us.

Growth is essential to every living creature and as Christians we need spiritual food - the word of God, as well as physical food to grow. A person growing spiritually is a beautiful sight; they appear not to be able to put a foot wrong and even when things are challenging, they seem not to be anxious but full of joy. That’s why we are expectant that as we read from Genesis to Revelation together through the year, we all will experience the promises of God. We will be able to achieve more individually and collectively and walk in the purposes of God for our lives. I want to encourage you to join in with me to read from Genesis to Revelation everyday through 2011, discuss with your friends, share your thoughts on the Jesus House website and together we will grow.

2011 will be an exciting year for us all.

Tips to help when reading the Bible • Desire to know more about your Heavenly Father • Worship & pray before you start  Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you  Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to see wondrous things in His word  You may want to ask that all distractions be removed • As you read, let your imagination paint the scenes  Note things that shock or surprise you, things that you don’t understand  Write down any questions you have • Think about what you have just read  What impacted you?  What stood out to you  Consider how you would feel if you were in the story  Consider what part of your life the reading impacts: perhaps there are areas that you identify that you are not doing so good, or maybe you are doing great. Can you make any changes? • Discuss and share your thoughts with others especially the things that stood out to you most • Thank God for the insight you have received. Thank God for the areas of your life where you are doing great. Repent about areas that you are not doing so great and ask for help. • If you can, keep a journal. • If you can, set aside specific time during the day to read The Word or you may choose to spread your reading time throughout the day. • If you miss a day, do not condemn yourself rather continue and try to catch up when you have more time. • Do your best to keep up. It is easier that way.
