HISTORY

THE BAHAMAS were first populated by the Lucayan Indians, a people whose culture and influence is still felt today. When Columbus made landfall in the New World in 1492, he actually discovered Hispaniola. Soon explorers and settlers found the islands of The Bahamas as well. They became a British Crown Colony in 1718 and remained under British rule until 1973. Since then, the country has existed as a British Commonwealth with close ties to the United States. New Providence Island, home to the capital city of Nassau and Baha Mar, is the most developed of the 29 principal Bahamian islands. People from around the world travel to The Bahamas each year to enjoy the beautiful beaches and vibrant culture.

CULTURE The diverse history of The Bahamas has created a culture rich with Colonial, European, Caribbean and African influences. All of these converge in the famous Junkanoo, an energetic parade featuring locals dancing in brightly colored costumes while playing cowbells and drums. The Junkanoo highlights the friendly, family-oriented and generous nature of Bahamians, who’ve designated the flamingo as their national bird and the yellow elder as the country’s flower.

GOVERNMENT The Bahamas is a sovereign, independent nation. Its government operates as a stable parliamentary democracy with two main parties.

CURRENCY The country’s currency is stable. The Bahamian dollar (B$) is used interchangeably with the U.S. dollar at a fixed 1:1 exchange rate.

POPULATION There are approximately 350,000 people residing in The Bahamas throughout all 700 islands. Approximately 250,000 live in New Providence and Paradise Island, while the remaining 100,000 are scattered throughout the outer islands.

promenades and walkways at Waterside Place, enjoying a mix of upscale, international shopping boutiques, authentic Bahamian arts and crafts galleries, as well as restaurants and lounges branded by some of the most famous names in the culinary world. The heart of Waterside Place will feature a mesmerizing Show Lake, where majestic water fountains dance in dynamic choreography to unforgettable, original music.

MEETINGS

With almost 200,000 square feet (19,000 square meters) of flexible

meeting space (the largest in The Bahamas), the state-of-the-art convention center at Baha Mar will accommodate gatherings of any size or nature. A cultural collaboration with the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB), the D’Aguilar Art Foundation (DAF) and the Dawn Davies collection will bring curated exhibits of Bahamian art on loan to be displayed in unique gallery spaces in the Baha Mar Convention Center.

Nicklaus Design will create a new, 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course,

the highest tier of the company’s design offerings, personally designed by the Golden Bear himself. Founded by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, Nicklaus Design is widely regarded as the world’s leading golf course design firm. The masterpiece course will boast spectacular views of the lush tropical landscape and breathtaking vistas of the turquoise Atlantic.


PRIVATE ISLAND

Unique to Baha Mar will be a private, offshore island of

unspoiled splendor. A short 10-minute boat ride will bring you and your party to the dock, where fully catered affairs or simple picnics can be enjoyed on your own exclusive piece of paradise.

NIGHTLIFE

To create a nightlife as vibrant as South Beach, Ibiza or Hong Kong,

Baha Mar has partnered with global music icon and four-time Grammy Award winner Lenny Kravitz and his creative firm, Kravitz Design, to create the right vibe for the Baha Mar nightclub. Expect Lenny’s design to rock the place, keeping it smooth and sophisticated while the dance floor pulses with beats from some of the world’s hottest DJs. In addition, Baha Mar will feature a 2,000-seat performing arts center attracting top acts from all over the globe.

Additionally, Developer and Brands have entered into a series of contractual agreements (collectively, the “Residential Agreements”) pursuant to which Brands will (i) oversee and supervise the operation of the Residences Component on behalf of the Developer and (ii) allow the Brand Trademarks to be used in connection with the branding and operation of the Residences Component. The Brand Trademarks will not be associated with the Residences Component, or any residential unit situated within the Residences Component, upon termination of the Residential Agreements for any reason whatsoever. If the Residential Agreements are terminated, the Residences Component will be required to cease using the Brand Trademarks. Accordingly, a purchaser should not acquire a unit within the Residences Component with the expectation that the Brand Trademarks will continue to be associated with the Residences component during his or her entire period of ownership. The right and license to use the Brand Trademarks is not part of the common premises or otherwise included in the purchase of any unit within the Residences Component. Neither any purchaser of any residential unit, nor any community association constituted with respect to the Residences Component or any segment thereof, shall have any right, title or interest in and to the name “Hyatt”; “Rosewood” and / or “Mondrian” respectively or any of the Brand Trademarks. There exists no joint venture, joint enterprise, partnership, ownership or similar relationship between the Developer and any of the Brands as to the Hotel or the Residences. The Brands have no ownership interest in the Residences Component. The Brands do not have any responsibility for the offering, marketing, sale or solicitation of units within the Residences Component. The Brands are not responsible for construction of the Residences component, obtaining required permits, licenses and approvals to develop the Residences Component and sell units within the Residences Component, or ensuring that the units within the Residences Component are sold in accordance with applicable laws, codes, ordinances and other governmental requirements. Under no circumstances shall the Brands be deemed to have made any representation or warranty to any purchaser of a unit within the Residences Component with regard to the foregoing matters or any other matter whatsoever. The Brand’s retention and exercise of rights of approval or inspection with respect to the marketing and sale of units within the Residences Component are for the sole purpose of protecting the reputation and integrity of the Brands’ Trademarks. Any purchase of a Residence should be for personal use and enjoyment and should be without reliance upon any potential for future profit, any rental income potential, economic or tax advantages, appreciation, depreciation or investment potential that may or may not be derived or realized from the ownership of a Residence, or any monetary or financial advantage with respect thereto or from voluntary participation in the Rental Program.
