Have you ever thought about adopting a child?
Jessica and Ellie
are close sisters, in spite of their occasional squabbles. Jessica is aged 4 and goes pre-school five mornings a week which she enjoys, Ellie is 2 ½ and likes imaginative play with her dolls. Jessica is a slim child with fair hair & skin and hazel coloured eyes and Ellie has brown hair, fair skin and bight blue eyes. Both children are robust and in good heath. Jessica does wear glasses to help with her longsightedness Jessica is a lively, friendly little girl with an out going nature and enquiring mind. Ellie likes to both play on her own and with others. The sisters need an adoptive family where they are the only children. Jessica and Ellie are very different little people and adoptive parents will need to develop the each unique talents and personalities.
Conner and Libby
(pictured above) are twin brother and sister who have lived in the same foster family together since they were 5 months old. Conner is a happy little boy who is always smiling. He enjoys a variety of children’s TV programmes, musical toys and walking. Conner currently uses no language but communicates in other ways and this is thought to be due to autistic spectrum disorder. Libby is a sociable little girl who laughs a lot. She enjoys shopping and holding her foster career’s hands. Libby is very independent and although she currently has significant speech delay, she has made a lot of progress. She is attempting to make appropriate sounds and can say a few words. They have had traumatic early experiences and appear to have some resulting learning difficulties.
Dudley Adoption Service: 01384 815891
Aliyah and Skye
are two beautiful little girls who need an adoptive family where they can be placed together. Aliyah is aged 4 and Skye is aged 3. They are half siblings and have always lived together. Both are healthy and have good appetites. Aliyah & Skye are both meeting all their developmental milestones and are thriving in their current foster placement.
They are both being seen by a clinical psychologist and a speech and language therapist. Conner and Libby are being taught Makaton so that they can communicate with their foster carer.
Ideally a two parent family where one is White and the other is Black Caribbean or of dual heritage. Other families with connections with the Black community will be considered. If you think you can offer a home to these girls.

Jayden
aged 4 ½ (pictured above) is a happy, sociable little boy who his foster carer describes as a joy to care for. He likes to receive hugs and cuddles. He loves to be tickled and spoken to and he loves to laugh and giggle. He attends pre- school nursery five mornings a week, he also attends a private nursery two afternoons a week. He has settled into nursery well. The nursery has described him as a happy, bright, sociable little boy. Jayden needs to be adopted into a family who are willing to provide him with a loving and stable environment where he will be accepted as a family member. Wolverhampton Adoption Team: 01902 553070

+) Santa’s Sleigh (4
Kathryn Smith, Bloomsbury, £7.99
Santa’s Sleigh is a lovely book for Christmas, telling the story of a busy night in the North Pole. As the elves help Santa pack his sleigh ready to deliver presents to the children of the world, the sleigh seems less and less likely to be able to hold the weight of the presents. How many reindeer will be needed to lift the sleigh so that all of the children can receive their Christmas presents? Turn the wheel and count the reindeer as they join the sleigh. This book is captivating, a joy to read and great for helping with counting skills.
The Giant Book of Giants (4+) Saviour Pirotta, Egmont Press, £14.99
n: Grim Gruesome Viking Villai The Rings of Doom (7+) Rosalind Kerven, Talking Stone, £5.99
Set in the ragged landscape of Viking Iceland, the Grim Gruesome series follows the adventures of the villainous title character. Complete with turf houses, snowcapped volcanoes, black lava desert and frightening boiling mud pools, The Rings of Doom is fast-paced, gripping and engaging for all ages. As with all great children’s books, it is also laugh-out-loud funny.
This collection of classic giant tales is a great one for hands of all sizes to hold. Complete with a spectacular 3D giant poster (over 1 metre tall) with flaps, tabs and bitesized information. Featuring the classic giant tales of Jack and the Beanstalk, The Curious Giantess and Sinbad’s Third Voyage, this giant book is great for all fully grown and budding giants. Hang the giant posted on your wall to discover how he collected a treasure trove of souvenirs.
The Night Before Christmas (5+)
Clement C. Moore, GMC, £6.99
Everyone knows the classic poem Twas the Night Before Christmas, and there is now a colourful book suitable for all. Featuring beautiful illustrations from the original poem, The Night Before Christmas shows Father Christmas (or Saint Nick as we know him in this poem) as the jolly, roundbellied, white-bearded loveable man that we all know and love. This is an enchanting book to read to the little ones on Christmas Eve, before they go to sleep and wait for the real Santa to arrive.
(8+) The Toymaker’s Workshop Marilyn Scott-Waters, GMC, £5.99
We want to hear all about it! Write to us at Primary Times, Publishing Ink, Fifth Floor, White House, 111 New Street, Birmingham, B2 4EU or email us at jennifer@publishingink.co.uk and tell us about your favourite books and why you love them. You might even see your name here in the next issue!
The Toymaker’s Workshop book features threedimensional paper toys that pop out, fold up and glue together to make the toys that Santa and his elves will be making this Christmas. You can construct a science-fiction flying car, a Punch and Judy style theatre complete with finger puppets, a magical unicorn forest and a pirate ship for racing to a gold-filled treasure chest. This book is perfect for keeping children (and adults!) entertained this Christmas.
