In their words, the mission of the Boxing Hall of Fame is “to honor and preserve boxing’s rich heritage, chronicle the achievements of those who excelled and provide an educational experience for visitors.” Born out a love for the sport and the desire to honor two hometown boys who became world boxing champions, Canastota residents dedicated the Hall in 1989 and have since hosted an annual induction ceremony each spring to honor the sport’s legends.

The National Distance Running Hall of Fame was established in 1998 to celebrate the sport’s greatest moments and legends.
