Academics Puget Sound is a classic liberal arts college that’s built for the future. Our rigorous academic programs are rooted in an innovative core curriculum that exposes students to major fields of study; is designed with an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning; and focuses on applying coursework through research, civic engagement, and international experience. The result is a flexible, forward-looking education with immediate practical utility and versatility for industries and careers that may not yet exist. Every student has a dedicated faculty advisor, as well as access to pre-law and health professions advising. The Center for Writing, Learning, and Teaching offers services including writing advising, subject tutors, language partners, and academic consultants. Peer advisors are available to assist students in transitioning to college, academic planning, and introducing students to other academic support services. Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services provides medical care and mental health services and referrals.

Over 100 study abroad options in 40+ countries. More than half of students engage in at least one internship—many sponsored by Puget Sound alumni. Nearly all students engage in community service. Puget Sound offers many opportunities for students to engage in research and travel, for which funding is available.

Location The third-largest city in Washington, Tacoma is home to a bustling port; a vibrant arts scene; and a diverse, welcoming population. We have one of the largest urban parks in the country and an impressive museum district. We’re located just south of Seattle, midway between Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, British Columbia, in the heart of the tech corridor. Public transportation options include buses, commuter rail, light rail, and ferries. In less than two hours, you can be in two ski areas, two national parks, and many wilderness areas.

Financial Aid and Scholarships We make major investments in our students, and value our partnership with families in developing financial solutions that help make a Puget Sound education a reality. Our financial aid program reflects our longstanding commitment to making sure that bright, promising students from every walk of life can take advantage of Puget Sound. Every year, we offer some form of financial aid to more than 90 percent of our students. All incoming undergraduates are considered for our renewable academic merit scholarships, which range from $13,000 to $25,000. In addition to scholarships and need-based aid, there are also other options to assist in financing your education: oo

Puget Sound offers payment plans which allow you to spread your education expenses over the course of a semester. Parents (and stepparents) of dependent undergraduate students attending school at least half time are eligible to apply for a Federal PLUS loan. Borrowers must be U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens.

Private or outside scholarships may help you with your college expenses. You can access links to a number of outside scholarship resources on our website.

Puget Sound also offers need-based student employment opportunities that provide students with the chance to earn money while gaining valuable work experience.
