PRO 8 CONDUCTS REGIONWIDE OPLAN GALUGAD

Camp Sec Ruperto K Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- The Police Regional Office 8 under the leadership of PBGEN ROMMEL FRANCISCO D MARBIL, Regional Director, conducted a simultaneous greyhound operations (Oplan Galugad) to all provincial jails region-wide on December 13, 2022.

Oplan Galugad is an operation purposely done to ensure peace and order inside jails. Accordingly, illegal activities emanate from jail facilities thus denying those persons deprived of liberty (PDL) to change into better persons hence the conduct of Search and inspections inside jail facilities to make sure that it is not a haven for illegal activities particularly on the proliferation of illegal drug trade.

In Samar, authorities pursued the said operation at cell numbers 1-6 of the Samar Sub-Provincial Jail located at Brgy. Carayman, Calbayog City. Operating teams confiscated the following: three (3) sets of playing cards; one (1) matchbox; eight (8 pieces of stainless blades; three (3) pieces of Flash drives; one (1) microphone with chord; four (4) pieces of guitar strings; one (1) pair scissor; one (1) piece of ball pen; six (6) pieces of assorted CDs and DVDs and one (1) nail cutter.

In Biliran, the operation was conducted at the Biliran Provincial Jail, Capitol Ground, Brgy. Calumpang, Naval. Operating teams confiscated the following: 14 pieces of assorted headsets; 14 pieces of assorted cellular phone chargers; one (1) piece Samsung power bank; one (10 piece heater; four (4) decks of playing cards; one (1) piece vape; 11 pieces of improvised bladed weapons; eight (8 pieces lighter;10 pieces shaver; four pieces improvised tattoo needles; six pieces nail cutters; two (2) pieces needles; seven (7) pieces toothbrush; three (3) pieces belt; four packs of assorted cigarettes and 10 pieces of assorted cellular phones.

In Leyte, authorities conducted the said operation in three (3) jails, namely: Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail located at Brgy. Hipusngo, Baybay City; Leyte Provincial Jail located at So. Kauswagan,Brgy. Barayong,Palo and Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail located at Brgy. Western, Hilongos. Operating teams confiscated the following: 28 cellular phones with chargers; 21 improvised short-bladed weapons; 11 scissors; one (1) piece of clip cellphone charger; one (1) power bank; one (1) cellphone handle; six (6) razors; one (1) improvised electri8c tattoo kit; 10 sets playing cards; 16 pieces of lighters; four (4) pieces nail cutters; two (20 pieces of butane bottles; one (1) piece cutter; one (1) piece tucker; one (1) piece steel bar; one (1) piece knife and one (1) piece pocket Wi-Fi.

In Southern Leyte, said operation was conducted at the Southern Leyte Provincial Jail located at Brgy. Asuncion, Maasin. Confiscated items were as follows: one (1) piece chisel; one (1) piece improvised shovel; five (5) pieces of scissors; two (2) pieces of toothbrushes; four (4) pieces of syringe; two (2) pieces of lighter; one (1) piece of razor blade; two (2) pieces of ball pens; two (2) pieces of spoons; one (1) piece pieces of fork; one (1) piece improvised tattoo tool; one (1) piece of improvised shoe needle hook and five (5) pieces of assorted cellphones.

In Eastern Samar, the operation was conducted at Dolores Sub-Provincial Jail located at Brgy. 15, Dolores, Oras Sub-Provincial Jail located at Brgy. Paypayon, Oras and in SEE OPLAN GALUGAD P. 7
