Since the opening of the casting of votes at 6AM until its closing at 7PM, no untoward incidents in polling centers have been reported. Presence of PNP personnel were felt by the voting public as RD BANAC maximized the deployment of majority of PRO 8 personnel to all areas of engagement especially in school premises where the casting of votes took place.

MEMBERS OF CPP-NPA SURRENDER, ARRESTED eastern Samar and Team Leader of his group turned-over his one (1) unit caliber 9mm pistol with magazine to 1st ESPMFC. “Ka Ogis” is 25 years old, single, jobless and a resident of same municipality also turned-in one (1) unit of fragmentation grenade. Their surrender was a result of the extensive efforts of the 1st and 2nd ESPMFC in their implementation of the Executive Order No. 70 or the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). A dragnet operation was immediately launched which resulted to the arrest of the abovementioned suspects who were positively identified by the victim and in the actual possession and control of two (2) caliber .45 pistols without pertinent documents which is a clear violation of RA 10591 inrelation to Omnibus Election Code. “Again, I urge the public to be observant in your communities for the presence of these lawless elements and relay it to authorities for the apprehension of such criminals for the immediate action of our personnel for safe and peaceful National and Local Elections 2022,” he added.

amp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- Elements of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit-Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office together with Guiuan Municipal Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency VIII-Eastern Samar Provincial Office arrested Mirasol O Dimpas during a buy-bust operation at Brgy. Cogon, Guiuan, Eastern Samar on May 17, 2022. Dimpas, 44 years old, married, Brgy. Kagawad, listed as High Value Individual, is a resident of Brgy. 6, Guiuan, Eastern Samar and was a drug surrenderee. Purchased from the suspect was one (1) pc heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing whitecrystalline substance believed to be shabu. Confiscated from her possession and control were four (4) pieces heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu; and one (1) piece subscribed five-hundred-peso bill as buy-bust money. Inventory of confiscated items was done onsite with PDEU witnessed by Hon. Vicente E Pagatpatan, Hon.

GRAB DRIVER TURNS-OVER SUSPECTED SHABU
Elements of Special Drug Enforcement UnitPolice Station 2-TCPO led by PLT REY T BALDICANO JR. were dispatched together with the concerned grab rider to conduct follow-up investigation for possible identification of the sender and the receiver of the said item, however, despite extensive efforts, both unidentified clients did not show-up at the supposed place of meet-up with the grab rider. The above-mentioned suspected Methamphetamine Hydrochloride will be submitted to Forensics Unit 8 for Chemical Analysis, Quantitative and Qualitative Examination.

amp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetic, Palo, Leyte – A concerned grab driver, who opted not to divulge his name for security reasons turned-over suspected Methamphetamine Hydrochloride (Shabu) to Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) on May 17, 2022. Accordingly, unidentified male client from Gurami Street, Phase 4, V&G Subdivision, Tacloban City booked for a delivery of an item described as one Winston cigarette pack wrapped with white plastic bag from Kalipayan, Brgy. 62-B Sagkahan Tacloban City. Upon receipt of the said item, the grab driver doubted that the parcel might be empty based on its appearance and weight and due to his curiosity, he opened the said item before he was about to deliver it. From there, he found out one transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu. Subsequently, he immediately reported and turned-over the item to TCPO for disposition.

Out of the 1,054 applicants for the Calendar Year 2021 Unfilled Attrition Quota Recruitment Program, only 429 successfully passed the rigorous process. 297 of them are males while 132 are females. These new breed of police officers will undergo the six-month mandatory training of Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) at the Regional Training Center 8, Kuta Kankabato, San Jose, Tacloban City and another sixmonth Field Training Program (FTP) will follow afterwards. PBGEN BANAC congratulated the applicants for satisfactorily finishing the extensive application cycle making it to the Philippine National Police. “It is significant to note that today we mark a new beginning as we welcome the new members of the men in blue. I see this as another opportunity to strengthen the police force in Eastern Visayas. As we increase our numbers, I am with confidence

PRO 8 personnel are ready and all alert, hence, on May 11, all RHQ personnel who composed the Regional Standby Support Force (RSSF) and Quick Response Team (QRT) that were deployed and rendered their election duties in the polling precincts of the different provinces of EV were recalled and have returned back to their respective offices and units to perform their regular police duties. “Although the recently concluded elections was generally peaceful, we are not keeping our guards down towards any eventualities that may arise especially that several rallies and protests are nowadays being demonstrated,” RD BANAC stated.

Said activity is in compliance with the Dangerous
Drugs Board’s policies and programs which are drug prevention and control and to develop and adopt a comprehensive, unified, integrated and balanced national drug abuse prevention and control strategy. With this, PDEA as the lead agency in the anti-illegal drug campaign works hand in hand with the Philippine National Police in implementing enhanced procedures declaring drug affected and drug unaffected barangays, municipalities, cities and provinces as “drug cleared” or “drug free”. PRO 8 ON NLE 2022: DOUBLING SECURITY MEASURES FOR THE ELECTION PERIOD Despite the added challenges on the increased number of voters who participated in the recently held elections plus the continuing efforts on the pandemic recovery, the Philippine National Police alongside other partner agencies had efficiently sustained a generally peaceful and violence-free National and Local Elections 2022 (NLE 2022). As this PRO braced and prepared for the NLE 2022, the collaborative efforts of stakeholders and other government and non-government agencies in promoting a safe, accurate, free and fair elections gained favorable results as security preparations had been amplified so as to de-escalate any violence and election-related incidents in the region. The Police Regional Office 8 thru the stewardship of PBGEN BERNARD M BANAC, Regional Director, had been adeptly proactive in mobilizing its personnel all throughout election period such as providing security coverage during the deployment of vote counting machines, official ballots and other election paraphernalia, increasing police visibility and implementing Comelec checkpoints especially in hotspots areas within Eastern Visayas.

lections 2022 had been phenomenal as it records the Philippine highest voter turnout with nearly 66 million Filipino voters as compared to the previous election which only logged a total of 61M voters.
Likewise, PRO 8 joined in election-related activities such as the Simultaneous Multi-Agency Send-off Ceremony of Security Forces and the Regional Logistical Readiness Test and Dispatch Ceremony as part of the PNP election contingency plan doubling security measures for the May 9 polls. EV Cops Arrest 71 MWPs, 699 Other Law Violators
A
uthorities of Police Regional Office 8 under the leadership of PBGEN BERNARD M BANAC, Regional Director, arrested a total of 71 Most Wanted Persons and 699 Other Law Violators during police operations regionwide in the whole month of May 2022. The month-long intensified implementation of Warrants of Arrest, recorded a total arrest of 71 Most Wanted Persons from Regional/ Provincial/City/Municipal level while 396 Other Wanted Persons were also apprehended. In the implementation of anti-illegal drug operations, 27 drug personalities were arrested with Php 68,601.65 worth of confiscated illegal drugs. Likewise, PRO 8 recorded 22 drug personalities who voluntarily surrendered. Meanwhile, 243 individuals involved in illegal gambling were arrested with Php 79,466.00 worth of confiscated bet money. 81 illegal fishers were nabbed and Php 1,088,980.00 worth of fish and fishing paraphernalia were confiscated during anti-illegal fishing operations. Accordingly ,in anti-illegal logging operations, 10 personalities were arrested with Php 356,935.00 worth of confiscated products. In Oplan Kontra Boga, 35 illegal gun owners were arrested. Authorities were able to recover and confiscate 195 different firearms to include those which were surrendered and turned-in for safekeeping. “With all these accomplishments, we will not stop our efforts. Instead, we will double our initiatives until we achieve a crime-free community,” RD BANAC said.
