Camp Sec Ruperto K Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- The Police Regional Office 8 under the leadership of PBGEN ROMMEL FRANCISCO D MARBIL, Regional Director, conducted a simultaneous greyhound operations (Oplan Galugad) to all provincial jails region-wide on December 13, 2022.
Oplan Galugad is an operation purposely done to ensure peace and order inside jails. Accordingly, illegal activities emanate from jail facilities thus denying those persons deprived of liberty (PDL) to change into better persons hence the conduct of Search and inspections inside jail facilities to make sure that it is not a haven for illegal activities particularly on the proliferation of illegal drug trade.
In Samar, authorities pursued the said operation at cell numbers 1-6 of the Samar Sub-Provincial Jail located at Brgy. Carayman, Calbayog City. In Leyte, authorities conducted the said operation in three (3) jails, namely: Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail located at Brgy. Hipusngo, Baybay City; Leyte Provincial Jail located at So. Kauswagan,Brgy. In Southern Leyte, said operation was conducted at the Southern Leyte Provincial Jail located at Brgy. Asuncion, Maasin. Confiscated items were as follows: one (1) piece chisel; one (1) piece improvised shovel; five (5) pieces of scissors; two (2) pieces of toothbrushes; four (4) pieces of syringe; two (2) pieces of lighter; one (1) piece of razor blade; two (2) pieces of ball pens; two (2) pieces of spoons; one (1) piece pieces of fork; one (1) piece improvised tattoo tool; one (1) piece of improvised shoe needle hook and five (5) pieces of assorted cellphones.

MEMBERS OF CPP-NPA SURRENDERED
Their surrender was the outcome of all the extensive efforts being implemented by all the Units of PRO 8, particularly the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and Provincial Mobile Force Companies in line with the Executive Order No. 70 or the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). Said surrenderees decided to return to the fold of law upon realizing that the armed group's sweet lies and fake ideologies had just deceived them. Moreover, the former rebels have confidence in the government's programs for them and are confident that their lives will be different and better.

2M WORTH OF SHABU CONFISCATED
Camp Sec. Ruperto K. Kangleon, Palo, LeytePersonnel of Tacloban City Police unde the leadership of PCOL MICHAEL P PALERMO, City Director, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 8 arrested two (2) drug personalities and confiscated more or less 300 grams of Shabu with an estimated street value of Php 2, 040,000.00 during a buy-bust operation at Brgy 71, Tacloban City on December 16, 2022.
Items confiscated during the buy-bust operation were the following: one (1) piece of heatsealed sachet of suspected shabu (Subject of Sale); one (1) belt bag containing four (4) pieces of knot-tied
transparent plastic suspected to be shabu (subject of possession), and one (1) piece 0of subscribed Five Hundred Peso together with nineteen (19) pieces of 1000 pesos and one (1) piece of 500 pesos bill boodle money used as buy-bust money.
“This accomplishment is a manifestation that our policemen continue to protect the citizens from being victimized by illegal drugs killing the future of our children,” PCOL PALERMO said.

ZERO INCIDENTS ON INDISCRIMINATE FIRING
to create a culture of gun safety that prevents gun accidents and its misuse. This is intended to increase the credibility of the entire organization and to prove that the uniformed police in general are disciplined and effective in the legal use of their pistols abiding the rules and policies on responsible firearm use.
The Police Regional Police Office 8, like other PROs, takes the lead in carrying out proper use of revolvers in order to avoid irresponsible and blind shootings so as to sustain zero number of reckless and indiscriminate firing. Likewise, its personnel remain on alert to discourage and deter any crime-related events. With the ‘no gun muzzle sealing policy’ imposed among cops, the Eastern Visayas region has managed to incur zero incidents on the indiscriminate discharge of firearms towards the end of year 2022. This allows the public to better appreciate the fact that EV cops always conform to the proper handling of their service firearms and well-rounded in relation to existing firearm guidelines.
As the topmost priority of the organization, PNP makes sure that its personnel give premium to safety excellence alongside setting standards for safety performance of police duty as they enforce the law especially during holiday seasons since this is the peak time crowd surge is unsurprisingly high.

EV Cops Arrest 38 MWPs, Other Law Violators
Authorities of Police Regional Office 8 under the leadership of PBGEN ROMMEL FRANCISCO D MARBIL, Regional Director, arrested 38 Most Wanted Persons and Other Law Violators during the region-wide conduct of police operations in the whole month of December 2022.
During the month-long intensified implementation of Warrants of Arrest, PRO 8 recorded a total of 38 arrests of Most Wanted Persons from the Regional/Provincial/City/Municipal level and 236 Other Wanted Persons were also apprehended.
In the implementation of anti-illegal drug operations, 66 drug personalities were arrested with Php 3,481,995.40 worth of confiscated illegal drugs. Likewise, PRO 8 recorded 9 drug personalities who voluntarily surrendered.
Meanwhile, 132 individuals involved in illegal gambling were arrested with Php 35,180.00 worth of confiscated bet money. Also, 207 illegal fishers were nabbed and confiscated a Php 15,383,526 worth of fish and fishing paraphernalia during antiillegal fishing operations.
In anti-illegal logging operations, 43 personalities were arrested with Php 517,351.25 worth of confiscated products.
In Oplan Kontra Boga, 15 illegal gun owners were arrested. Authorities were able to recover and confiscate 348 different firearms including those which were surrendered and turned in for safekeeping.
RD MARBIL lauded all the efforts of the men and women on the ground. "With all your hard work and commitment to public service, we are able to achieve these numbers on our accomplishments against criminalities and other lawless activities. Continue to be dedicated," he said.

Moreover, the construction and repair of the Municipal Police Station of Silvino Lobos, Northern Samar utilizing PRO 8 fund. It was only in his time that the said station was given attention making the personnel's lives safer and be able to deliver best service to the public. Another was the improvement of parking areas inside camp making it more organized and orderly. Also, the installation of directional signages inside camp and also directed the lower units to do the same, taking into consideration the public's welfare, awareness and sense of security.
For his operational accomplishments, 218 illegal drug personalities were arrested from August 15, 2022 to November 30, 2022; 893 arrested illegal fishers; 1565 illegal gamblers; 218 illegal loggers and 248 were arrested for illegal possession of firearms.
With all these improvements and accomplishments, RD MARBIL looks forward for more. He proposed for the construction of an 8-storey Regional Headquarters Admin Building, 5-storey Regional Support Unit's Building, construction of command center and the creation of Task Force Maharlika to guard the main hiways from North to South of Eastern Visayas.
Further, he stressed that for a goal to be realized and sustained, a culture of ruthless accountability must be applied at all times by each and every PNP personnel in the region. Meanwhile; authorities of Tacloban City Police Office conducted said operation at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, City Jail Facility on December 3, 2022. Confiscated items were as follows: 19 pieces of assorted cellphones; one (1) earphone; one (1) pack of yeast; cash money of different denominations and several cellphone chargers.
All confiscated items were brought to the concerned police stations for disposition and documentation.
