he Police Regional Office 8 under the lead of PBGEN RONALDO FAUSTINO DE JESUS, Regional Director thru the Office of the Deputy Regional Director for Administration headed by PBGEN RONALDO R MENDOZA, DRDA, officially launched the virtual counselling program dubbed as “Project Sagdon” at PRO 8 Matapat Hall, Camp Ruperto Kangleon on December 14.
PRO 8 “Project Sagdon” is a mental, physical, health and spiritual intervention intended for PNP personnel undergoing mandatory isolation in quarantine facilities, infected or not. The objectives of the said initiative are as follows: to address the psychosocial, physical and spiritual needs of PNP personnel in the different quarantine facilities; to prevent stress and anxiety which may lead to more serious illness; and to help said personnel cope better and continue with their normal lives. PBGEN DE JESUS emphasized that the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the creation of mental health awareness among PNP personnel who are experiencing anxieties, fears and uncertainties.
“I believe that in these times of pandemic and disasters, mental health plays a vital role in our wellbeing. The Php 26-million OCPO building situated at Brgy. Camp Downes, Ormoc City has a land area of 783 sqm and a floor area of 391.50 sqm. On the other hand, Talalora MPS stands at Brgy. I, Poblacion, Talalora, Samar has a land area of 600 sqm and a floor area of 288 sqm, amounting to more than Php 9-million.Both buildings are part of the continuing PNP Modernization Program through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Philippine National Police (PNP) Convergence Program for Calendar Year (CY) 2020. “Ito po ay patunay na binibigyan natin nang sapat na halaga na matugunan ang pangangailangan, hindi

People are typically busy buying gifts for their loved-ones during the holidays. Some long to go back to their distant hometowns and be with their respective families, while others are occupied with all the Christmas preparations. Others could be seen planning for simple feasts while some keep playing Christmas songs to feel the spirit of the Yuletide Season. Everyone seems excited and thrilled knowing that it is Christmas again. he Eastern Samar police headed by PCOL CARLITO D ABRIZ, Provincial Director, had this idea to bring the possibility of happy holidays to our fellow Waraynons in the comfort of their homes. This initiated activity of the PNP personnel in Eastern Samar dubbed as “Pamaskong Handog Alay ng Pulisya sa Panahon ng Pandemya” aimed to provide indigent families a simple celebration for their Noche Buena. The little amount raised by the said Office which amounted to P25, 540.00 was used to purchase items for the Noche Buena package: 5kls of rice, 1 whole dressed chicken, and other goodies for the children of the 40 chosen families within the city. These goodies were extended not only to the indigent families, but also to the frontliners in the City- these brave people who sacrificed for being away from home in these difficult times. PD ABRIZ with other PCADU personnel made a personalized chocolate cake shared to the frontliners at the Border Control Points namely: North Bound Border, Brgy. Bugas, Borongan City, and South Bound Border, Brgy. Locso-on, Borongan City. PCADU Officer, PMAJ ROMMEL CESISTA and other personnel under the command of PCOL ABRIZ handed the delicious cakes to the frontliners on December 21. Also, ESPPO donated 45 pairs of slippers to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Eastern Samar in consonance with their Gift-giving Program. n these uncertain times we’re all facing, sharing and caring truly matter. Christmas season is coming up and the rush to find the perfect gift is underway. But with the changes that the new normal brings, how do you know what gifts to buy?
This Christmas season, it is important for us to bear in mind the reason why we are celebrating Christmas. It is a must for us to remember that the Lord came and was born in a manger. This is the message that is sent to us – we must learn to humble ourselves and look after our least brethren. Christmas basically means sharing what we have to radiate love to others through caring. We believe that it all starts by being kind, and that the power of love can spread faster than the power of the COVID-19. Thus, the men and women of Biliran Police Provincial Office (PPO) humbled themselves and share the love to the Mamanwa Tribe brethren through giving grocery items. Likewise, school supplies and snacks were provided to the little ones. With the recent challenge of the new scheme of education of the kids, the Office extended help by providing bond papers to the teachers of Palayan Elementary School relative to “Module Mo, Sagot Ko” Program.
This strong rapport shared between its religious partners, Biliran PPO also extended help to the children of United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) -Tamarindo by providing school supplies and snacks to the kids. The smiles and laughter shared by the recipients of the said program manifest the joy they felt even with the simple gifts that Biliran PPO offered. The simple “thank you” they uttered was a sweet melody that washed away all the uncertainties this pandemic has brought. Let us all remember that it is the thought that counts and love is the most important thing in the world. When love emanates from our hearts and minds, everything else follows. SAMAR PPO ACTIVATES “A VISIT TO GIVE HOPE” AN INTENSIFIED PROACTIVE MEASURE IN CHILD PROTECTION

amar Police Provincial Office (PPO) under the leadership of PCOL GLENN OLIVER C CINCO, Provincial Director, activated “A Visit to Give H.O.P.E (Home of Persons Enriched with Love)” activity, a proactive measure on violence against children, with the crusade “Bulig Pagpuypoy Han Pag Abuso Han Kabataan.” Samar PPO’s Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) under the guidance of PLT AILEEN G VELARDE, Officer In-Charge crafted the said project which aimed at prioritizing children who were victims of abuse, neglect and exploitation, and Children In Conflict of the Law (CICL) as recipients. This has gained the support
of Hon. Reynolds Michael T Tan, Provincial Governor, thru the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) wherein he provided food assistance to identified child victim survivors. The project team, together with a social worker from PSWDO actually conducted home visitations to 30 reported child victim-survivors of sexual abuse. Under the project, local police stations identified the target beneficiaries and coordinated with members of Multi-Disciplinary Team composed of Municipal Social Welfare and Development, Municipal Health Office and NonGovernment Organizations. The activity started on November 20, 2020 wherein the team visited the identified barangays of Calbayog (Brgy. Cabatuan) and San Jorge (Brgy. San Isidro). Waraynon Warriors extend monetary donations to the Victims of Typhoon Ulysses On November 12, 2020, Typhoon Vamco (locally known as Ulysses) swept Central Luzon and nearby provinces with hefty rains. The heavy rains caused by the typhoon overflowed rivers causing severe flooding. As the typhoon subdued, the country dams from all around Luzon near their dripping point forced the dams to release a great amount of water into their lands and premises. In response to the typhoon’s excessive cause, the entire mainland of Luzon was placed under a state of calamity. These effects caused several casualties and deaths. The damages reached more or less Php 15.5 billions. Victims magnified their voices around the social media platform for rescue, relief, and other means of assistance. In response, the Philippine National Police particularly the Police Regional Office 8 encouraged its personnel to extend help through voluntary donations to aid the

Human Rights (UDHR) to launch a project dubbed as “Adoption of Online Bisita” for Persons Under Police Custody (PUPC). This serves as an alternative to the Physical Visitation of their immediate family members during the period of National Quarantine restriction. Through this initiative, this effectively enabled the unit to contact PUPC’s family so as to boost detainees’ morale during their detention on their respective custodial facilities. Likewise, this helps inmates and their families to cope up with anxiety and stress brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. The PNP Online Bisita Project has positively influenced the lives of the PUPC and their respective families. With the intensification of family communication, movement restrictions, pandemic threats, and welfare issues have finally been addressed.

All three are residents of Calbayog City and affiliated with CFS-1, SRC BROWSER operating in the areas of Las Navas, Northern Samar, San Jose de Buan and San Jorge, Samar. They voluntarily surrendered to 1st Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company through PLTCOL AQUILINO G PONGCOL III, Force Commander. “Soyang” has turned-over a long firearm model BUSHMASTER, caliber .223– 5.56mm MOD .XMI5-E2S, with serial number L539435, color black, without magazine and ammunitions, and other subversive documents; “Jimboy” surrendered a pistol marked M1911A1 U.S. ARMY with serial number 382464 inserted with one (1) magazine, loaded with three (3) live ammunitions; while “Jepoy” yielded a pistol marked P7.45 limited PARAORDNACE INC. with serial number 125384 inserted with one (1) magazine, loaded with four (4) live ammunitions. On that same day, another former red fighter yielded before the operatives of 1st Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company through PLTCOL FREDERECK G SEÑAL, Force Commander. Subject who was identified as “Oscar,” 46 years old, married, resident of Sulat Eastern Samar, subsequently turned-in one (1) caliber .45 pistol COLT M1911AI U.S Army, SN: 841754, with two (2) magazines and 14 rounds of live ammunition. He was under Commander “Berna” of CN (Toyota) Front Guerrilla Unit (FGU) and former Command Officer, Sentro De Grabidad (SDG), “Jorge Bolito Command.” PBGEN RONALDO F DE JESUS, Regional Director declared that the heightened implementation of Executive Order No. 70 thru the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) has been instrumental for local communists to abandon their nonsensical armed-struggle. “As we continue to bring quality police service closer to the communities matched with our sustained persuasion efforts, we were able to lead these misguided back to their families. Regardless of it all, the PNP “BAYANIHAN SPIRIT” has unitedly brought us hope and faith to rise above all these odds. Through crafting various initiatives and programs essential to the community is one way to alleviate each other’s difficulties. As such, the RMFB8 outspread its hands to reach certain communities to cultivate relationships, boost PNP-COMMUNITY partnership, and most importantly, provided help amidst this pandemic. Despite the existing crisis, this Unit generously catered the target barangay, the eight (8) basic programs and services which are vastly essential to the communities which in particular include: Reinforced Education thru IEC Distribution, BP, Health and Weight Monitoring, Unified Clean-Up Drive, Libre nga Arot /Free Haircut, Lecture/Seminar on Anti-Criminality and AntiInsurgency, Entertainment or “Kaliawaan ha Barangay,” Team Building and Feeding Program. Free masks and face shields were also given; disinfection; and constant reminders on social distancing were also done before and during the program to ensure that the COVID-19 protocols were properly observed.
