From being police officers reinforcing the law and assuring public’s safety to being genuinely good Samaritans by giving back their blessings to help those in need through Pabahay Project dubbed as “Pangarap na Bahay, Pulis ang Aalalay, Pamayanan ay Kaagapay”.
RD CABAGNOT personally led the team from the Regional Standby Support Force (RSSF) to assist in the rescue operations in Southern Leyte. On its way to Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office, RD CABAGNOT himself led the road clearing operations. “We are grateful that we are safe and sound and that we are able to be of help to our fellowmen in Southern Leyte. We ask the full cooperation of everyone to be generous enough in these times of disaster,” RD CABAGNOT said.
Samar Cops saved the lives of fifty (50) fishermen during the onslaught of Typhoon Jolina at Brgy. Basud, Sto. Niño, Samar on September 7, 2021. A clearing operation was being conducted by the personnel of Sto. Niño Municipal Police Station when a concerned citizen reported the incident. Immediately, said personnel promptly boarded a motorboat upon receipt of the information and were able to rescue three (3) fishermen. Thereafter, two (2) lifeless bodies had been found. Said personnel likewise coordinated with nearby island police stations regarding the incident. The search, rescue and retrieval operations initiated instantaneously by Sto. Niño MPS which lasted for about thirteen (13) hours, with the prompt assistance of the Local Government Unit of Sto. Niño and other members of the community. An Emergency Health Station for rescued typhoon victims was also established in the Municipal Gym/Covered Court to provide first aid and immediate medical attention to the wounded and rescued fishermen who were then provided with hot meals, dry clothes, slippers and other basic needs. Meanwhile, two (2) of the rescued fishermen succumbed to death. All the fifty (50) rescued survivors and the remains of four other (4) fishermen onboard the nine (9) wrecked motorboats were already transported to their respective places of residence.
PBGEN ROMMEL BERNARDO A CABAGNOT, Regional Director, personally visited the most affected police stations brought about by the onslaught of Typhoon “Odette” in Southern Leyte. RD CABAGNOT’s visit somehow boosts the morale of the PNP personnel in the said police stations since most police stations of Southern Leyte have been hit and destroyed. RD CABAGNOT assured the personnel of the immediate renovations of said damaged parts. Moreover, he encouraged them to stand firm despite the disaster brought about by “Odette”. “I know how hard and difficult it is to render your duties and responsibilities and perform as public servants when your own homes and families are also affected. I salute you for that,” RD CABAGNOT said.
