Want to donate to charity? Consider in-kind gifts The Outcast - Part 1
Entry
Introduction You think that you really know somebody, but you really don't know anything about their past. You don't know what happens in their day to day life. You don't know how much they are hurting inside and how they suffer. That's the misconception that this young girl faces. Everybody thinks that she is “emo and “depressed, but she just feels alone and scared. This girl, she is that girl. She is emotionally damaged and is deeply scarred. Her name is Nia and she is 14 years old. To some, she was introvert, and to some, she was an attention seeker. But she was simply just another person with emotions. In a way though, she was different. She felt empty, and numb, full of pain. It was just how she was raised, that made her feel like this. From a young age, she was beat so much. It impacted her in such negative ways, yet her parents didn't stop. They expected way too much from Nia, and this made her feel bad about herself. She considered herself a reject. Nia tried very hard in school, and she got very high marks, but her parents never seemed to be pleased with her work. She did house work as well, but her parents pressured her to do even more. Chapter One It was about 11:45 A.M, when I received my marked test. I was shocked with the mark I had gotten. I had gotten 81%. To most students, that wouldn’t have seemed like a big deal, but for me, the circumstances were different. It is very difficult to please my unreasonable, closed minded parents. My mom wanted to get me married off to some rich doctor, in an arranged marriage, rather than let me find my own life partner. I also had to become a doctor or a lawyer, and as a girl, I am expected to know how to do all the work at home and how to prepare meals for my family. In Indian society, men are thought to do outside work and relax at home, whereas women are expected to both go to work everyday and do everything at home. I think that this is a very big issue in society. I came home, nervous and anxious, and showed my mother the test. I had already expected what she was going to say, but the words stung me. “How are you going to succeed in life! Nobody will want to marry you or be friends with you, she exclaimed. My self-esteem went down lower than it already was, and I started to live in constant fear. It was about 4:30 pm, when my father arrived home, in his silver truck. My mother looked at my father with an expectant glare which seemed to say that it was about time again. Time for the yelling, the tears, the slaps, the utter chaos that would take place in this small home. While I was being beat, my older brother, Pawan, peeked out of his bedroom, and laughed menacingly. My parents never showed any remorse and they were merciless towards me, but they would never hurt Pawan. This usually happens in Indian society, where parents tend to favour boys, and spoil them more. I was always discriminated living in that house, one of the main reasons I would get beat was because I was a girl. I was expected to be perfect in all of the tasks I fulfilled. ‘At least they don't know about the secret,’ I would always think to myself. Nobody knew this secret, and if they did, I would probably be shamed for it.

(NC) There's an advantage to donating things other than money to your favourite charity or non-profit organization. One option is gifting stocks and securities in-kind. If you're considering it, here are a few tips to get started: 1. Make sure you understand the benefits. As a donor, the Canadian Revenue Agency does not apply capital gains tax on donations of publicly traded securities. For example, if you were to sell shares for cash, you are responsible for the tax on the capital gain. But if you donate securities, those capital gains aren't subject to tax. This means you'll receive a tax receipt for the full value of your stocks or securities.
so make sure to get in touch with the appropriate coordinator. Your broker will be required to fill out the necessary paperwork to transfer your funds to the charity.

City to Undertake Urban 3 Infill Study On February 19, City Council directed staff to commence an Urban 3 - Infill Study. The Study is a City-led initiative to clarify the objectives and intent for the Urban 3 - Infill land use designation in the Official Community Plan (OCP). The Urban 3 – Infill Study includes approximately 5,600 lots in existing neighbourhoods surrounding Abbotsford’s urban core. This represents about 10% of the land base within the City’s Urban Development Boundary. This Study builds on earlier work completed through the 2016 OCP. The OCP provides direction for redevelopment within the Urban 3 – Infill area by allowing for additional homes while retaining the existing character of neighbourhoods. The purpose of the Study is to expand on this direction and provide additional clarity by preparing infill-specific zoning regulations and guidelines.
A planning process is underway to review existing conditions, test options, conduct public engagement, and prepare draft infill zoning regulations and guidelines. The study is expected to be complete in July 2018, followed by Council’s consideration of the draft regulations and guidelines. Staff will continue to process existing rezoning applications within the Urban 3 – Infill area that were received on or before February 19, 2018. All new rezoning applications received after February 19, 2018 will be processed when the Study is completed in July. Further information about the Urban 3 – Infill Study and interim approach for infill rezoning applications is available at www.abbotsford.ca/urban3infill and in a Project Bulletin.

How one healthy habit can set youth up for success in school (NC) Did you know that one in five Canadian children are currently at risk of going to school hungry. This can have an impact on a student’s ability to pay attention at school, arrive on time and participate in learning. According to Breakfast Club of Canada, a Canadian non-profit organization, sixty per cent of classroom learning is done before lunchtime. So, to enable children to learn effectively at school, BCC has embraced a strat-

egy that aims to empower every child social skills, self-confidence, and to realize their full potential through the ability to interact with peers its national breakfast club program. and adults According to BCC, when children overall interest in the subjects get a balanced meal in a positive, being taught stimulating environment, there are marked improvements in: incidents of bullying behavior and concentration academic performance
To help set students up for future success, HSBC Bank Canada has donated one million dollars to Breakfast Club of Canada to provide 4,500 youth each year in Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, Toronto and Montreal with access to healthy breakfasts, over the next three years. In partnership with Breakfast Club of Canada, HSBC also developed the HSBC Future Leaders program which celebrates students from across Canada who are making a difference in their communities. The HSBC Future Leaders program has recognized seven children from across the country for demonstrating
leadership in their respective communities. “From championing eco-friendly programs, advocating for social justice and mental health initiatives, to supporting diversity and inclusion in their schools and communities, these seven amazing young people are making Canada a better place,” said Larry Tomei, executive vicepresident, and head of retail banking & wealth management, HSBC Bank Canada.

Cervical Cancer Screening Can Save Women’s Lives: Raising Awareness in Abbotsford
C
ervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer in Canadian women ages 20 to 44. In BC, South Asian women have a 1.5 - 4.5 times higher incidence of invasive cervical cancer than other women. The 2012-2014 screening rate for all women ages 20-69 in Abbotsford is 51.8%, which is lower than Fraser Valley’s overall rate which is 55.3%
and lower than the provincial average However, the project aims to support all women who experience gender, culof 69.3%. tural, and other barriers to screening. This is why the Abbotsford Division of Family Practice, a non-profit support- On February 8, 2018, 120 South Asian ing doctors and the health programs women in Abbotsford gathered at they lead, decided to work on a project Gian’s Banquet Hall to learn about with community partners to support the importance of cervical cancer increasing cervical cancer screening in screening. This event was one of five community education events that have occurred as part of the Abbotsford Division Increasing Cervical Cancer Screening project. This project is funded by Shared Care, and done in partnership with Abbotsford Community Services, BC Cancer, and the Fraser Health South Asian Health Institute. Participants learned that cervical cancer screening (a PAP test) is a free test that can find abnormal cells in the cervix before they become cancer. The test only takes few minutes. Nine in 10 cases of cervical cancer can be prevented by having regular PAP tests and following up on any abnormal results. Women ages 25-69 should be screened every 3 years, or more often if asked by their doctor. Women are encouraged to ask their doctor or their doctor’s secretary for a PAP test. Doctors and their secretaries are expecting women to ask for this simple procedure and will book it. Women who feel more comfortable with a female provider to do the PAP test can ask their doctor or doctor's secretary to organize this. “This was a successful community education event,” explained Dr. Elizabeth Watt, the physician leading the project. “The women asked great questions. Awareness was raised about the importance of screening. We encouraged event participants to tell at least three other women that cervical cancer screening can save their lives, and to talk to the doctor or doctor’s secretary about booking a PAP test.”

From Balwant Sanghera’s Desk

or the past few days the visit by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his delegation has been much in the news in the Indian media in general and the Punjabi media in particular. The main emphasis of this visit has been the close links between the two democracies. The progress made by the Indian diaspora in general and Sikhs in particular in Canada has been a matter of great pride not only in Canada but also in India. In Canada the proportion of people of Indian origin is 1.4%. This is quite close to the Punjabis in India at 1.9%. The clout of Sikhs in particular in every area in Canada is often the topic of discussion here. This is more so at this time. It was intesting to note that a prominent Indian journalist Harih Khare wrote a very insightful article in The Tribune as a tribute to Canada on the eve of the current visit by the Canadian Prime Minister. Titled:Welcome Justin Trudeau, Khare quoted former governor general David Johnston ‘ s treatise: The Idea of Canada. This is a beautiful illustration of Canadian values. Khare also quoted extensively from Justin Trudeau’s Common Ground: Political Life. Both of these works highlight Canada’s diversity, multiculturalism and inclusiveness. All of this makes Trudeau’s visit more relevant and meaningful for the people of India.Incidentally,Canada has become one of the most popular countries in India in general and Punjab in particular. In this context it was only natural that Justin and his delegation have received A very warm welcome everywhere. His visit to Taj Mahal in Agra, Hamandar Sahib in Amritsa and every other place like Ahmedabad, Bombay and New Delhi have been great success. In a sense this has been a memorable milestone in Canada India relations. On another front, my family and friends had an opportunity to visit Rajasthan for a few days. This visit included spending a few days in the Pink City of Jaipur. It is a beautiful city. The Amber Fort is just amazing. It is home to the world’s largest cannon. In addition to that it has great artifacts from the past. Built on steep hillside it is a marvel of engineering. Jaipur is also home to the impressive Jantar Mantar, Jal Mahal City Palace and
much more. From Jaipur it was on to visit Dhanda Bhagat’s Gurdwara about two hours drive from Jaipur. This is a very spacious Gurdwara in the memory of Dhanna Bhagat whose 600 th anniversary was celebrated with great deal of enthusiasm last year. From there we moved on to Ajmer, home of a sacred Dargah. After paying our obeisance at the Dargah, we moved on to nearby Pushkar, one of the holiest places for the Hindus. Pushkar is reported to have 326 temples and has the only temple devoted to Lord Brahma. Also, Pushkar had the honour of visits by Guru Nanak Dev ji and Guru Gobind Singh ji. The Gurdwara here is also very impressive. After spending a few days in Rajsthan it was time to head home. On our way home, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit in Delhi. It was an honour for us to pay our obeisance at the historic Bangla Sahib and Raquab Ganj Gurdwaras. From Delhi we moved on to another historic place called Paunta Sahib in Haryana. There are a number of Gurdwaras here. Guru Gobind Singh ji stayed here for more than four years. Here he successfully turned back the attack by a number of hill chieftains at Bhangani. There are a number of Gurdwaras around here dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh ji ‘s stay in this area. After taking a short break my family and friends plan to visit a few more places of interest. The weather so far has been great. It is a welcome change from the cold and snow of Metro Vancouver.

Protect yourself from Identify theft J #1 DO NOT LEAVE YOUR WALLET IN YOUR VEHICLE. That is the BEST way to have your ID stolen. Precautions that you can take: 1. Shred your documents. Don’t toss bank statements and credit card receipts in the trash. Dispose of them using a cross-cut shredder or shredding service. 2. Strengthen your passwords. Use random combinations of letters, numbers and special characters. Create different passwords for each account and change them frequently. 3. Check your credit reports. You’re entitled to one free credit report every year from each of the three major credit reporting bureaus. Request one report every four months and review it for suspicious or incorrect information. 4. Guard your Social Security number. Avoid sharing it when it’s not absolutely necessary, and don’t keep it, or your Social Security card, in your wallet. 5. Be smart about social media. Consider leaving personal details, such as your birthday or address, off your profiles. Strengthen your privacy settings and be cautious about whom you accept as a connection. 6. Password protect your phone and electronics. Lock your device with a password, turn off Bluetooth when you’re not using it, and be cautious when downloading apps — especially free versions of popular apps, which may contain malware. 7. Watch out for emails, links or unsolicited phone calls, asking for your personal information. DELETE emails that you do not know the sender. NEVER give your banking information or personal information like SIN online. 8. Monitor your financial statements. Report any suspicious activity in your bank and credit card accounts as soon as you notice it. 9. Keep your mail safe. Swiping your mail is one of the easiest ways for a thief to steal your identity. Consider using a locked mailbox or P.O. box, and have the post office hold your mail if you go out of town. For more information, please contact the Abbotsford Police Department Community Police Office for more tips on how to stay safe !

B.C. government moves forward on action to protect coast he provincial government will be moving forward with consultation around four bitumen spill safeguards while referring to the courts the outstanding issue around B.C.’s right to protect B.C.’s coast, Premier John Horgan announced today.
“The actions by the Alberta government threaten an entire industry and the livelihoods of people who depend on it,” said Premier Horgan. “We have taken steps to protect our wine industry from the unwarranted trade action by the Government of Alberta.”
“We believe it is our right to take appropriate measures to protect our environment, economy and our coast from the drastic consequence of a diluted bitumen spill,” said Premier Horgan. “And we are prepared to confirm that right in the courts.”
“It’s not about politics. It’s not about trade. It’s about British Columbians’ right to have their voices heard on this critical issue,” said Premier Horgan. “And it’s about B.C.’s right to defend itself against actions that may threaten our people, our province and our future.”
T
Premier Horgan says his government will be retaining expert legal counsel to ready a reference to the courts, adding that it may take several weeks to bring the reference forward. This reference will seek to reinforce B.C.’s constitutional rights to defend against the risks of a bitumen spill. Premier Horgan says this safeguard has generated disproportionate and unlawful reactions from the Alberta government, specifically their decision to ban the import of wines from British Columbia.
The Premier adds that consultations will begin soon on the remaining four safeguards announced in January by Environment and Climate Change Minister George Heyman. These safeguards include: Spill response time
Owner Operatiors and Drivers BC - California - BC ● No Experience Required ● Training will be provided ● Ability to cross border ● Clean Driver Abstract
Geographic response plans Compensation for loss of public and cultural use of land Application of regulations to marine spills

“To face the challenges of today and tomorrow, the Government of Canada will need the hard work and innovative spirit of all Canadians,” MP Sidhu said. “In return, it needs to ensure the benefits of a successful, growing economy are felt by more and more people. This Budget will deliver that to all Canadians, and it speaks directly to issues I strongly believe will assist my constituents and all of BC.” Budget 2018 builds on historic investments included in previous federal budgets and will deliver real benefits to British Columbia, including: Increased Federal Transfers Major transfers will total $6.9 billion in 2018-19, an increase of $245.6 million from the previous year: $5.1 billion through the • Canada Health Transfer, an increase of $190.6 million from the previous year; and $1.9 billion through the • Canada Social Transfer, an increase of $55 million from the previous year. Building More Rental Housing for Canadian Families Budget 2018 proposes to increase the amount of loans provided by the Rental Construction Financing Initiative from $2.5 billion to $3.75 billion over the next three years. This new funding is intended to support projects that address the needs of modest and middle-income households struggling in expensive housing markets like Vancouver, Victoria and more. In total, this measure alone is expected to spur the construction of more than 14,000 new rental units across Canada. The Government proposes to provide $113.6 million over five years, starting in 2018–19, to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to expand the Rental Construction Financing Initiative. “By building on the Government’s continuing plan to invest in the middle class, Budget 2018 takes significant steps to ensure everyone has the opportunity to fully contribute to the economy, leading to economic growth that works for all Canadians,” Sidhu said. “It is also a plan that specifically addresses issues constituents have brought to me during my time in office. In short, I have no doubt it is a plan that works for MissionMatsqui-Fraser Canyon, and for all of Canada.”

Letter to the Editor
O
ver the years many times we have seen Double standards of Justice system in India. The Indian constitution in big letters say fair and equal justice to all citizens. And all ruling political leaders take oath to abide by and follow the constitution. But after coming into power the ruling political leaderships and Governments openly violate the constitution and follow double standards of justice.
The ruling Governments and political leaderships have followed double standards of law. There is one set of very tough laws to act against minorities. And then there is very soft, Dumb and Blind laws to act against the guilty right wing Hindutava forces. The ruling Governments, police, Intelligence agencies, CBI etc. are quick to act against to charge, arrest and punish the accused belonging to minorities. But the same ruling Governments, police, Intelligence agencies, CBI etc. act Dumb, Deaf and Blind when they have to charge, arrest and punish the guilty right wing Hindutava persons. Some people might find it very tough and too strong statement against the justice system in India. But over the years what we have seen being practiced then it’ll be seen as very justified. How many times we have seen ruling Governments accuse minorities of violence and terrorist activities. And then they act very tough against minorities to quickly charge, arrest and punish minorities. Not only that innocents belonging to minorities are killed in fake encounters, shootings and police atrocities. But on the other hand how many times we have seen right wing Hindutava forces burn properties, businesses belonging to minorities, attack and kill minorities. The right wing Hindutava forces openly in the name of Cow protection, Love Jihaad, Valentine day etc. attack and kill innocents belonging to minorities. But the same ruling Governments, police, CBI etc. act Dumb and Blind. And totally fail to act against the guilty Hindutava forces killing innocents. Over the years ruling Governments
under both Congress and BJP leaderships, thousands of innocents belonging to minorities Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Dalits have been killed by the Hindutava forces. But all those ruling Governments have failed to punish the guilty Hindutava forces. Very recently on 26th Jan. under the Nationalist flag hoisting excuse the right wing Hindutava forces attacked Muslim minority in a town in UP state. They attacked and burnt houses and businesses belonging to minorities. But unfortunately one Hindu died that day. Guess against whom the government and police acted ? Around 100 Muslims were charged and arrested for violence and killing. But the real guilty Hindutava leaders who created violence and attacked Muslims are walking around freely. Another big thing is that one Hindu got killed and Government arrested close to 100 Muslims. But strangely when thousands of innocent Sikhs and Muslims were killed in 1984 and 2002 then the ruling Governments, police failed to arrest and punish the guilty all these years. Doesn’t that sound like Double standards of justice system being followed by the ruling Governments and ruling political leaderships ? Very recently even some S/C Judges have raised voice against irregularities in the Justice system. Therefore it is very important for every citizen and leader who believes in the Indian constitution to raise voice against such double standards of justice system. Why the Governments, police and justice system are quick to act against and punish to give death sentences to guilty belonging to minorities? Whereas the same ruling Governments have failed to punish the guilty Hindutava forces involved in killing thousands of innocents belonging to minorities. All the ruling Governments, police and justice system must act fairly and equally to all the citizens. And make sure to provide fair and equal justice to all citizens. The ruling Governments must not openly follow the double standards of justice and violate the constitution of India.

Something can begin to stir in your mind about action, which would be best taken when it comes to future goals. You could begin to gain a clearer picture of the commitments you would need to be prepared to make. There can be a tendency to overlook the amount of finer detail involved but you will find out soon enough.
Activities with others but particularly within a group of people can be most enjoyable. It could turn into something bigger than you initially expect. Be cautious about anything you are pressed to agree with or any person who is very strong about their ideas as it will be difficult to gauge exactly what they are looking for.

You can feel challenged with what might seem never ending matters to deal with on a daily basis and that there is no conclusion in sight. Rather than worry too much about this you should take an optimistic view on it working out satisfactorily. You do have support from people who have authority, so it will all work out eventually.
Anything you are uncertain about when it comes to the expectations of others, you should simply ask questions. If they don’t want to tell you it will be made very clear but this may not necessarily be the way things go. Anything practical that needs to be dealt with or impacts upon things on a daily basis can be sorted quite easily.
The Full Moon this week occurs in your sign. This can generate much self- awareness when it comes to your own position and that of others. You could feel overwhelmed by others right now but much is up to the way you decide to respond. You can be strong-minded about the manner in which you want to establish matters
It is important you get the right information that will enable you to get on top of any situation that makes you feel like a slave to circumstance. This is challenging you to put a structure in place that will be enduring but also something that you can have greater control over. If money is involved it is possible to improve the situation.
You will enjoy being in any situation that is either generous to you or allows you to create some benefit. You can express practical, down to earth ideas without seeming out of touch. This might be necessary, especially if there is any expectation for you to be putting money into something has been lacking boundaries.
You will be fired up to get things in place so that what follows on has a good foundation to operate from. Your vision won’t be bound but when it comes to others involved you will need to be persistent in leading the way so that matters take to path you want. This is because they can wander off the track quite easily.
There will be more to handle than you initially anticipate so be very careful about committing yourself to things when it seems you have plenty of time available. You need to deal with matters that involve you personally and require your attention and leave any opportunities for social involvement floating until the last minute.
There is a lot of focus on your finances with some aspects having the opportunity to work to your benefit. Any situation where you are owed money could come to a head and you should not hesitate to take appropriate action to state your priorities or to express what you expect. The final conclusion might be slow but it is positive.
You may not know how to take what becomes obvious about somebody else. You need to put your focus on your own position and be very clear and definite, in your own mind, when it comes to any responsibilities you are willing to accept. What will give you pleasure in the long term may need to be taken into account as well.

Tension can arise through somebody else taking a dominant approach, especially if they are of the opinion you should either be more responsible or enter into greater levels of commitment. There could be more to handle on a daily basis than you imagined but for the moment this is not likely to prove troublesome to you.

Tips to land a job whether you are 20 or 60 (NC) If you know where to look, there are numerous opportunities in today’s job market, whether you are a new graduate, seasoned professional or retiree looking to go back to work. Here are some tips to help you have an edge in your job applications. Know what you want. It seems obvious, but you’d be surprised at how many job seekers go into their interviews without a clear vision of what they are looking for in a prospective position. Do your homework beforehand and think about what you’re good at. It’s important to come to your interviews genuinely prepared to answer questions such as “Why are you interested in this industry?” and “What makes you right for this position?” Do some volunteer work. Pick a cause that interests you and take on a new volunteer gig. It’s a great way to build up your resume, and there are very few organizations that will turn you down. You never know who
you might meet and what doors could open. Speak up. Let people know you’re on the hunt for a new job. Some of the best positions often aren’t promoted online, so it’s a good idea to ask friends, family and coworkers from past jobs if they can connect you to someone who is hiring. Look for growing industries. Don’t limit your options — look into industries that are actually hiring. Did you know that the food and beverage processing sector in Ontario is the largest manufacturing employer in the province? The industry has set a goal to create 60,000 new jobs by 2020. Check out some of the skills you can put to use in the industry at www.tasteyourfuture.ca.

From Unnoticed Ensemble to Global Phenomenon: The success story of Shen Yun
he story of Shen Yun Performing Arts is somewhat of a fairy tale— the journey of a small group of leading Chinese artists turning a dream into a reality by touching the hearts of millions of audience members around the world. Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika story continues in Bikaner Bollywood's Queen Kangana Ranaut is busy breathing life into the story of Rani Laxmibai through Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi at the Junagarh Fort here. Many images have come out in the past showing Kangana in a powerful position. But the new set of images show that the film will not only be about how she fought with bravery but also put the spotlight on her personal life Dressed in a simple orange sari with elegant pearl jewellery, Kangana, who essays the role
of the queen of Jhansi in the film, is seen walking around the set with her team. With her hair tied neatly in a bun, Kangana is looking down in the images. Actor Sonu Sood has joined her to shoot his portion for the film. It seems he had an all black outfit dress code. He is seen strolling around the set alone dressed in a black ethnic ensemble with hints of golden. He completed the look with a chain. While the main actors seem to be on a break in the images, the supporting cast is ready to shoot. A group of foreign actors -- essaying the role of soldiers from the British Army -posing together for the camera, and then other actors lending their support as villagers in the film -- the images capture the moments before the shoot begins.
Mansi Multani enjoyed being face of fear in Pari Actress Mansi Multani, who is playing Kalapori in Anushka Sharma's forthcoming horror film Pari, says it took a lot of time to change into the "Black clad Devil's angel" but she thoroughly enjoyed being the face of fear. "It took a good amount of time to change into Kalapori. It needed two hours of make-up every time. But the hours of sitting ramrod straight to achieve the look was totally worth the feedback we are getting. I never thought I would say this, but I thoroughly enjoyed being the face of fear," Mansi said . Award-winning British make-up artist Clover Wootton, who has been working on Anushka's look in the film, faced the
biggest challenge to make the face of fear tangible."While creating Anushka's look was challenging, what was even tougher was to create Kalapori. We had already established that we were going to need heavy prosthetics. It was hardest for me to create something like that in a really short time and without any real reference," said Wootton. "How does one know for sure that you have decoded the look for this character with rotting flesh -- creepy and yet human! Now having seen final cuts of the film, I can heave a sigh of relief. It's looking scary even to me," added the artist.
I want to try different stuff but I won’t leave comedy : Varun Sharma
Having done serious roles during his theatre days, Varun Sharma found his calling with comedy in Bollywood films and the actor says he will never turn his back to the genre which has given him fame. Varun made his debut

with Fukrey and has since starred in films such as Dilwale, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, Dolly Ki Doli and the latest, Fukrey Returns.“I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of comedy. I love the genre. In fact, it is one genre I never explored during the course of my theatre or audition days. I used to do only serious stuff. Only after ‘Fukrey’ I found an acceptance in the genre,” Varun said.“I do want to explore myself as an actor and try different stuff but I won’t leave comedy. It’s one genre which has given me acceptance, love and
the name I’ve today. Of course, I’ve to come up with new style of comedy, but it’ll be wrong to neglect the genre altogether,” he added. The actor is currently shooting for Arjun Patiala which stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kriti Sanon. Varun, 28, described the film as an “interesting buddy-cop drama” and was all praise for Diljit, with whom he sharing the screen space for the first time.“With Diljit, it’ll be a maddening ride. We both are (from) Punjab so we have a ‘north’ connection. He is really an amazing actor.
People think I don't give a damn about things : Salman He may be one of the biggest stars in India, but Salman Khan says it was not an easy journey to stardom for him, courtesy his professional highs and lows and legal woes. The 52-year-old actor believes there have been breaking points in his life, but the nature of his job does not allow him to share his vulnerable side with the world. "My profession is such that I have to look good, dress up, do stylised action sequences and romance. Articles come on my affairs, me working with beautiful heroines and then suddenly a court date comes up... People see me on 'Bigg Boss' in which I am laughing and joking. "So, people think I don't give a damn about things. That is the most difficult part about our journey as actors. No matter what you are going through at your home or in your personal life, you can't have sub-titles there. You have to be that character, no matter what you are going through," Salman said .The actor said being a star has a lot repercussions as he does not have the "luxury of being depressed or sad". "I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can't afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me," he said. Recalling his initial days in the film industry, Salman revealed his aim as a new actor was to give an equally bigger hit as Aamir Khan's Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak."The journey I began with 'Maine Pyar Kiya', not knowing if I would make it, and that time it was difficult because there was another actor, who had started his career and he had given a big hit. That kid's name was Aamir Khan. "He was from the same locality. I thought that he made it and if I didn't make it, the whole Bandra will start laughing at me. So, my concern was only Bandra- Pali Hill and the friends' circle, which just had four-five people," Salman said
I am a producer by choice : ShahRukh He ventured into Bollywood in 1992 with "Deewana" and a decade later he got into film production with his home banner "Red Chillies Entertainment" -superstar Shah Rukh Khan now says he is a producer by choice and wants to make movies that need to be made. "I am a producer by choice only because I want to make the kind of films that I think should be made... So, I produce films, so I can do different kind of films and showcase it to everyone," Shah Rukh said.Talking about the change, he said: "Things have changed, I think technology has changed. There is a lot more corporatisation... I think we have become more
discipline. We finish films on time, date releases and all this was not there... There are rehearsals and everything is fixed and it is mainly because the stakes are so high. It is really expensive to make a film... It is genuinely a risky business." Asked when will we get our next SRK, especially with the growth of digitalisation, he said: "I believe that there will be stars bigger than me... not from cinema perhaps but digital part of cinema... There will be digital stars and much bigger stars than I can ever be and I truly believe that... but it may not come for the kind of longevity."

Home sales dip in January, but up year-over-year: B.C. Real Estate Association
The number of active listings in the province went down 8.6 per cent to 20,901 units when comparing to January 2017. RELATED Tougher mortgage rules now in effect How the new mortgage rules may affect new homebuyers Impact of tighter mortgage rules Despite home sales falling between December of 2017 and January of this year, the number of homes sold last month was up when comparing year-over-year, according to the B.C. Real Estate Association (BCREA).
There were 5,306 homes sold last month, an increase of 18.3 per cent from January of 2017.
BCREA Chief Economist Cameron Muir says the new mortgage rules in place likely had an impact.
The average home price last January in B.C. was $721, 477, an increase of 16.2 per cent from the same period the year prior.
“New mortgage rules requiring conventional borrowers to qualify at a higher interest rate likely contributed to the decline in home
sales last month. The impact was magnified by a strong December as many households advanced their purchase decisions ahead of the policy’s implementation.” The BCREA also says market conditions have tightened in a number of areas, with the exception of Victoria, where the salesto-active listings ratio went down from 46.3 per cent to 40.5 per cent. Even with that decrease, Victoria is still considered to be a strong sellers’ market.
