Abbotsford- Conservative Candidate of Record Brad Vis released the following statement on the opening of the Mission—Matsqui—Fraser Canyon Conservative Nomination: “I am pleased to announce that I will be seeking the Conservative Nomination for Mission—Matsqui—Fraser Canyon to run in the 2019 election. What I’ve heard loud and clear is that the Liberals are taking for granted our small business owners, that many people in the riding feel threatened because Justin Trudeau is attacking our freedom of religion (summer jobs program), and that the Government is recklessly spending our nation into generational deficits our children and grandchildren will be left to pay. In just over two years, taxes are rising, the cost of living is going up, and it’s increasingly harder to get ahead.
knocking, the Conservative Party will be successful in 2019! Our Electoral District Association is well organized and we’ve worked extremely hard to host regular events, fundraise and recruit volunteers.
From now and until 2019 we will be out meeting people and sharing a positive Conservative vision focused The last election was very close on individual liberty, lower taxes, and I am confident that through safe communities and protecting the careful planning and plenty of door environment!”

From Balwant Sanghera’s Desk
R
eligion is supposed to give one peace of mind. Almost every religion promotes mutual respect and harmony. Unfortunately, in some countries and some regions of the world religion has become a source of conflict. In that context, Canada has been a shining example of intercultural /interreligious peace, harmony and inclusion. It is a beacon of hope and optimism for others. It is no wonder that more than 200 communities from around the globe are proud to call Canada their home. Richmond is a microcosm of this reality. Its Number 5 Road, home to more than 20 places of worship of different denominations, also known as the Highway to Heaven has been playing an important role in this regard. The Highway to Heaven is a very popular place for visitor from all over British Columbia and Canada. Also, our local media has been very helpful in its coverage of the activities along this very special stretch of #5 Road in this community. As chairperson of the Highway to Heaven Association, I am very pleased with the role that our places of worship are playing in promoting intercultural and interreligious harmony. India Cultural Centre of Canada Gurdwara Nanak Niwas (8600, #5 Road in Richmond,BC) has been playing a key role in bringing to-gether people of different faiths in order to promote intercultural and interreligious harmony. It is very encouraging to see a lot of educators and community leaders bringing students, youth and adults alike to our various places of worship including Gurdwara Nanak Niwas on a fairly regular basis. This helps the young minds broaden their horizons. Such exposure to different faiths and cultures is bound to create more awareness in them and help them become more well- rounded, broadminded and productive members of Canadian society. Usually, these visits start with Gurdwara Nanak Niwas. Here, the visitors want to learn about Sikhism and the IndoCanadian community in Canada. I consider it as a privilege to share my

knowledge with these students and adults who are keen to learn about various religions and communities. It is an honour for me to act as their guide and share with them the basic principles of Sikhism, the message of universal brotherhood, human rights and equality as preached by our Gurus starting with Guru Nanak Dev ji. These students and adults are very keen to learn not only about Sikhism but also about the contribution of our community to the development of Canada. On Tuesday,, May 1, 80 students and their teachers from Lynden Christian High School, Lynden, Washington (U.S.A.) visited Gurdwara Nanak Niwas. On behalf of the Gurdwara Management Committee, it was an honour for me to facilitate this visit. The participants were very impressed with the warm welcome and learning about Sikhism and the Indo-Canadian community in Canada. Soon after their departure another group of 20 students and adults from Youth With A Mission, Vancouver, joined us with the same purpose. All of them, like the previous group from Lynden were very impressed with the hospitality and learning experience at the Gurdwara. he Government of British CoBefore leaving for other places of lumbia has allocated funding to worship along our Highway to Heaven, create three new sheriff recruit they enjoyed a delicious vegetarian training classes in 2018, further suplangar (lunch) at the Gurdwara. Data science to help predict, prevent adverse drug reactions in children with cancer

Early talks are a common practice in collective bargaining, and will build on progress made between employers’ associations and unions on issues discussed during the term of the agreements.
The Province looks forward to employers and unions reaching freely negotiated agreements that support B.C.’s core priorities: making life more affordable improving services for people investing in a sustainable economy
This commitment to work collaboratively, along with give and take at the bargaining table, is important in sustaining, enhancing and modernizing the delivery of services that people rely on. By early May, talks will be underway between:

Rick Hansen Secondary School supports Matthew's House
ick Hansen Secondary School leadership students have been working hard for the past three weeks to plan a school-wide fundraiser to support Matthew’s House. Matthew’s House is a non-profit organization that assists families and provides quality care for children who live a life with special needs. This organization offers a place for the child to stay while the parents rest and rejuvenate. Students from the Rick Hansen Secondary Leadership class decided to arrange a fundraiser with a goal to raise $150 for Matthew’s House. The students received coffee and food donations from Starbucks Coffee. Leadership students also collaborated with our Resource Room and Foods class who baked treats for the fundraiser. This event took place on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. The students’ hard work paid off as they surpassed their goal of $150 and collectively raised $342. The students put in lots of effort and overcame the obstacle leading to the big day. They took initiative and reached out to the student body during class time with in class announcement, made posters to advertise around the school, and made an informative board to

3 tips to help your kids get the most out of summer (NC) While the summer vacation provides children with more freedom and a much-needed break from formal education, experts say this time of year is critical for learning and development and can contribute to their health and self-esteem. Here are three ways to ensure your child gets the most out of this break. Leave time for unstructured play. Many parents rush to fill their children’s time with scheduled activities, but don’t forget to leave space for unstructured play. A growing body of evidence suggests that play is central to the development of the mental, physical and social skills kids need to achieve their full potential in adulthood. Spend family time. A summer holiday is not only perfect for creating lasting family memories, it can also be incredibly valuable to support your child’s self esteem. When parents make time for one-on-one interaction with their kids, it can help reinforce their sense of
self-worth and even support some areas of your child’s brain development. Introduce your children to volunteering. Much of what young ones learn about community, integrity and generosity is learned from their parents. While busy schedules and homework can be an obstacle during the school year, the summer can be a perfect opportunity to engage your children in these issues through volunteering. To provide some structure and inspiration, organizations like Amnesty International offer a wide range of issues and activities for children of all ages to engage in with their parents.

s homeowners, First Nations, farmers, ranchers and business owners continue to rebuild after last year’s devastating forest fires, now they also have floodwaters damaging their properties and in some cases, forcing them out of their homes.
Those floodwaters are prompting local states of emergency; shutting down roadways; causing drinking water and septic tank issues; hurting the tourism industry; and forcing residents to face additional personal and financial setbacks. Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart presented a statement on the flood situation in the Legislature today after touring flood-ravaged areas this past week. “We know that these sorts of events are happening more and more often. If this is the new norm, then government needs a new norm for planning. We need to look at how we start to control and
mitigate some of the flooding issues in our region. This is the third year in a row we’re seeing drastic floods. What are we doing to plan ahead? Not only do we see floods in my area, but we see ranchers and farmers who are overwhelmed with fields that look like lakes, and two months later their irrigation is shut off due to drought. We need to look at planning and how we can store water, so we can ensure that the people who grow our food have the water they need for irrigation.” Tegart says a genuine recognition of the situation, and good planning, are what people in her riding are looking for from government.

BC citizens coalition launches awareness campaign against tire burning and expensive tire-eco fees
A
new grassroots coalition – The Tire Eco-Fee Consumer Protection Coalition (TEFCPC) – is launching a public awareness campaign on BC’s tire recycling regime, which is using taxpayers dollars to burn tires and charge residents the highest tire eco-fees in Canada. In spite of winning the 2017 election on a platform based on improving affordability and environmental responsibility, the NDP government is turning a blind eye to the negative decision making of Tire Stewardship BC (TSBC). Burning tires for fuel is the absolute opposite to the intent behind a tire recycling stewardship program. In fact, the practice isn’t classified as such by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which states that fuel production “[u] sing scrap tires is not recycling…”
Further, the practice produces bioaccumulating toxins such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (“PAHs”), dioxins, furans as well as heavy metals. When released into the atmosphere, these emissions are causally linked to skin, lung, bladder, liver and stomach cancer following human exposure. BC is one of the last remaining jurisdictions in North America to embrace such a practice through the support of public funds. The province is also charging consumers the highest tire eco-fees in Canada, due to TSBC’s decision to limit tire recycling to only two companies, both of which have been contracted since the inception on the program on January 1, 2007.

Something can begin to stir in your mind about action, which would be best taken when it comes to future goals. You could begin to gain a clearer picture of the commitments you would need to be prepared to make. There can be a tendency to overlook the amount of finer detail involved but you will find out soon enough.
Activities with others but particularly within a group of people can be most enjoyable. It could turn into something bigger than you initially expect. Be cautious about anything you are pressed to agree with or any person who is very strong about their ideas as it will be difficult to gauge exactly what they are looking for.

You can feel challenged with what might seem never ending matters to deal with on a daily basis and that there is no conclusion in sight. Rather than worry too much about this you should take an optimistic view on it working out satisfactorily. You do have support from people who have authority, so it will all work out eventually.
Anything you are uncertain about when it comes to the expectations of others, you should simply ask questions. If they don’t want to tell you it will be made very clear but this may not necessarily be the way things go. Anything practical that needs to be dealt with or impacts upon things on a daily basis can be sorted quite easily.
The Full Moon this week occurs in your sign. This can generate much self- awareness when it comes to your own position and that of others. You could feel overwhelmed by others right now but much is up to the way you decide to respond. You can be strong-minded about the manner in which you want to establish matters
It is important you get the right information that will enable you to get on top of any situation that makes you feel like a slave to circumstance. This is challenging you to put a structure in place that will be enduring but also something that you can have greater control over. If money is involved it is possible to improve the situation.
You will enjoy being in any situation that is either generous to you or allows you to create some benefit. You can express practical, down to earth ideas without seeming out of touch. This might be necessary, especially if there is any expectation for you to be putting money into something has been lacking boundaries.
You will be fired up to get things in place so that what follows on has a good foundation to operate from. Your vision won’t be bound but when it comes to others involved you will need to be persistent in leading the way so that matters take to path you want. This is because they can wander off the track quite easily.
There will be more to handle than you initially anticipate so be very careful about committing yourself to things when it seems you have plenty of time available. You need to deal with matters that involve you personally and require your attention and leave any opportunities for social involvement floating until the last minute.
There is a lot of focus on your finances with some aspects having the opportunity to work to your benefit. Any situation where you are owed money could come to a head and you should not hesitate to take appropriate action to state your priorities or to express what you expect. The final conclusion might be slow but it is positive.
You may not know how to take what becomes obvious about somebody else. You need to put your focus on your own position and be very clear and definite, in your own mind, when it comes to any responsibilities you are willing to accept. What will give you pleasure in the long term may need to be taken into account as well.
krk – pyt qy nyqr rog, sLrIrk ksLt, kfrobfr TIk rhygf. BrfvF df sfQ pRfpq hovygf, rfhdfr qoN lfB, XsL dI pRfpqI hovygI. purfxy JMjt dUr hoxgy. kMm bdlx nfl lfB pRfpq hovygf. apRYl 20,21,22,29,30 meI 9,10 asLuwB hovygI.

Tension can arise through somebody else taking a dominant approach, especially if they are of the opinion you should either be more responsible or enter into greater levels of commitment. There could be more to handle on a daily basis than you imagined but for the moment this is not likely to prove troublesome to you.

Make time to give back this summer (NC) Most of us typically give to charities at the end of the year, around the holidays. This year, why not consider splitting your yearly gifts to charity into a mid year and end of year gift? For starters, it would make budgeting easier by splitting up your gifts in two. It’s also right after tax season, a good time for you to assess your financial status and contribution room. Plus, you’ll reap the emotional benefits of giving twice. Why not add some joy to your summer as well as your winter? Another thing to consider is that giving in June will help the charities you support forecast their budget before the end of the year. The holiday season is extremely busy at any charity, as it is when most gifts come in. Giving earlier means the charity won’t have to rely on their end of year rush to forecast and budget accordingly.
PAGE 44
This way, not only will you benefit from giving earlier, so will the charities you support. An example of this is Amnesty International, a charity that relies on the year-end push for fundraising, as most gifts come through in the final month or two of the year. Amnesty International's human rights work is independent, and the organization does not accept any government funding, so it is funded by people like you.
