MP Brad Vis Seconds Conservative Bill to Fix Reckless Liberal Soft-onCrime Policies

Ottawa, ON – After eight years of Justin Trudeau, soft-on-crime Liberal policies have made our streets more dangerous and our communities less safe. Conservatives are pressing the Trudeau government to reverse its reckless legislation that is releasing dangerous, repeat offenders into local communities. Brad Vis, Member of Parliament for Mission—Matsqui— Fraser Canyon was proud to second MP Pierre PaulHus’ Bill C-325 to bring significant changes to the Criminal Code and Corrections and Conditional Release Act to restore safe streets.

“Justin Trudeau’s revolving door policies have resulted in a small number of dangerous criminals repeatedly committing violent offenses and it has led to heartbreaking consequences in communities across Canada,” said MP Vis. “Right here in British Columbia, soft-on-crime policies continue to have tragic results, like for the man who was murdered in broad daylight just days ago in Vancouver. Conservatives will keep dangerous criminals off our streets.”

Bill C-325 would undo elements of Bill C-5, passed by the Liberals last fall, and would put a stop to the alarming number of convicted violent criminals and sex offenders who are serving their sentences in their homes. It would also create a new offense under the Criminal Code for violation of parole conditions imposed with certain serious offences and require that violations be reported to relevant authorities.
