MEET THE DESIGNER
“ Simple, geometric, modern, comfortable, and classy are the characteristics that describe her design aesthetic. Sewing, cutting, crocheting, and designing are her little sweet escape. Nature, personalities, and shapes inspires her to create an abstract style to her technique. If Roanne finds her surroundings astounding, she immediately uses it, makes it, and brings it to life. She love to use her imagination rather than using reality, because according to her, dreams bring a new experience to the world. Gazing around of what’s next to this beautiful adventure, she continues to work positively and lively.

The art of making something known is to reveal which was concealed; to let down the curtains and to finally shed light on what is hidden. These techniques can give birth to conceptual designs which can be flirty, mysterious, and baffling. “Reveal Conceal” is inspired by those who cover and camouflage their true identities. The same can be said for foreigners transiting over from one country to another. Many travel to the United States looking for a better life and the American dream. Navigating around the country without knowing the culture can lead to misfortune. Some get so wrapped up in trying to blend in the culture that they forget of their own; allowing their true essence to fade away into the norms of the society. Through culture shock, many emotions stir up which can be both positive and negative. As result some individuals conceal themselves from society altogether and confine to like kin. Being a second generation Filipino, this reality has become all too apparent. I believe people in general are afraid to reveal their true colors. I also believe they do so by disguising themselves with masks. Whether it is around peers, family or strangers we all put up faces to hide our true nature. The aesthetics in “Reveal Conceal” show overlapping layers revealing hidden shades underneath. Dark navy dip dye conceal the truth, sheer pineapple fabrics to reveal, and effortless silhouettes that are used to imitate the initial concept name “Reveal Conceal”. These are all details that will create my collection. To reveal which was concealed is “Reveal Conceal”.
The transparency and layering of fabrics create a flirtatious and fluid movement. The texture of the whimsical fabric elevates style. The aim is to provide exquisite detail to the handcrafted embroidery on the translucent fabrics. Fabrics Used: Pineapple fibers, blended woven silk-cotton and flocked tulle.
