Eating well throughout your pregnancy is crucial as you’re eating for two. Here are important foods you should be eating during your 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester.

Top 5 foods to eat in the 1st trimester Many women lose their appetites and suffer from nausea in the early months of pregnancy, so make sure you get off on the right foot! Spinach: high in folic acid. Lentils: protein, aids in the baby’s tissue and muscle growth. Chicken: high in iron, which creates red blood cells and helps your body get enough oxygen. Salmon: high in calcium, vitamin D and is one of the safer fishes to eat while pregnant*. Cheese: source of dairy, important for bone development.

*Salmon is low in mercury and considered safe for expectant mothers but limit your intake to 2 or 3 servings of 4 ounces or less each week to be safe.
