Marrakesh, Morocco by Victoria Bello | Marketing Assistant
Choose sunny and find out the best time to visit Morocco is at its most beautiful from March to May when the landscape is fresh and green. However, many also prefer going in the Autumn (September to October) to escape the cold British weather and enjoy the warm and pleasant Morocco temperatures with less tourists.
How to get around
What to see
Where and what to eat
There are buses into the city from surrounding areas, but these can be difficult to navigate and are often sporadic. Your best bet is to hail a taxi, as these are inexpensive and easy to come across. Always check if your accommodation provides a daily shuttle service to and from the city centre as this makes getting around the city much less challenging.
Visit the famously renowned market in the medina Jemaa el-Fna, which is steeped in ancient traditions and practices such as snake charmers, barbary apes, magicians and an array of stalls. Book a day excursion to the famous Atlas Mountains and you may get to see the famous Berber villages where Argan Oil is produced, and the still intact ancient traditions.
There are many amazing restaurants offering traditional cuisine to your standard burger and chips. We recommend Le Blokk, which serves both international and traditional meals. Try the Moroccan staple, a tagine, which is a hearty meal that is full of tasty spices, vegetables and various meats. Or why not try a Chicken Pastilla? This pie is a delicious Moroccan delicacy.
Do you know how to haggle? We don’t ask this lightly because haggling is at the core of Moroccan markets. Make sure you go in with a price in mind, be firm, walk away if you need to, don’t look too keen and keep it fun with a smile on your face.
