THESIS PROJECT ATAL AKSHAY URJA BHAWAN The project is involved in designing an office complex for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The proposal is expected to be a net-zero energy built. The building has to be constructed in compliance with the Energy Conservation Building Codes (ECBC) and with five star rating of Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) rating system for green buildings. This State-of-the Art, Net-Zero-Energy Green Building is designed on the concept of solar passive architecture.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Thesis Project
Location : Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan MNRE, Pragati Vihar, New Delhi, Delhi Site Area : 2.76 Acres User Group: Government employees and Ministers Stakeholder: Ministry of New and Renewable Energy
Proposed Form
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is constructing a new headquarters in New Delhi Akshay Urja Bhawan, designed to be Net Zero Energy. The project uses a combination of climate responsive architecture with energy efficient technology to achieve this goal. AIM: The project is involved in designing an office complex for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The proposal is expected to be a net-zero energy built. OBJECTIVES: • To understand the considerations of a Net zero building. • To analyze site information and climatic conditions. • To study about spatial organization and areal need of an office building. • The building has to be constructed in compliance with the Energy Conservation Building Codes (ECBC) and with five star rating of Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) rating system for green buildings. • The building is to be designed on the concept of solar passive architecture.
ABOUT THE MINISTRY The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is the nodal Ministry of the Government of India for all matters relating to new and renewable energy. The broad aim of the Ministry is to develop and deploy new and renewable energy to supplement the energy requirements of the country. d renewable energy has been assuming increasing significance in recent times with the growing concern for the country's energy security. Energy self-sufficiency was identified as the major driver for new and renewable energy in the country in the wake of the two oil shocks of the 1970s. The sudden increase in the price of oil, uncertainties associated with its supply and the adverse impact on the balance of payments position led to the establishment of the Commission for Additional Sources of Energy in the Department of Science & Technology in March 1981. The Commission was charged with the responsibility of formulating policies and their implementation, programmes for development of new and renewable energy apart from coordinating and intensifying R&D in the sector. In 1982, a new department, i.e., Department of Non-conventional Energy Sources (DNES), that incorporated CASE, was created in the then Ministry of Energy. In 1992, DNES became the Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources. In October 2006, the Ministry was re-christened as the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

URBAN DESIGN PROJECT REIMAGING BABA KHARAK SINGH MARG PRECINTS AND CONNAUGHT PLACE The major objective of the project is without giving up the idea of the city as a social hub, the crisis has also given us an opportunity to rethink the relationship between urban design and public health. The ability to assess and mitigate the effects that development has on health should become a new field of expertise, to help prepare cities to respond more rapidly and efficiently in future. In this concrete urban sprawl, while most of us have locked ourselves and found alternatives to work from home through digital media, we have missed out on the ‘play’ aspect. Open spaces are never prioritised and often neglected in favour of other priorities.
