Course Introduction

T

he Complete Photography Course is a 45 hour program designed specially for photography lovers who have a passion for photography who want to learn the technicalities of photography to get photos the way they want, students wanting to explore photography as a visual medium to express themselves creatively, art students who want to be good at the craft, self taught photographers who want to update themselves, and become efficient at their photography craft, artists who want to use photography as a creative medium to communicate, express, showcase their work, etc‌ The course is very intensive and will cover all the main parts of photography from street, event, wedding, landscape, night, astro, macro, wildlife, portraiture, product, fashion editorials to photo journalistic stories, etc as well as quick editing workflows‌

The course intake will be no more than 6 to 8 students for the greater flexibility and more individual attention to each student. The course will have a great focus on practical, on location shootings, parks, visits to museums, libraries, studio practical, photo labs, printing, social media promotion and a special focus on a professional portfolio production. The course will also focus great emphasis in working in teams of 3 or 4, doing collaboration photoshoot sessions & on location shoots. 8 student max & 1 mentor Mentorship approach oriented

Detailed Overview Overview of The Complete Photography Course The course will cover all technical aspects of photography and all the common photography types with a big emphasis on same day practical after each lectures. There will be regular out of class, on-location shooting, outings, visits to museum, parks, photo labs, exhibitions, libraries, etc. post processing & workflow sessions will be regularly practiced in class. The photography studio will be available for practice in teams as well as many professional tools. The course will make sure each student has a high quality professional portfolio geared towards their photography styles by end of the 15 weeks. Course technical Coverage The dslr, creative control of dslr, digital darkroom workflow, contemporary & historical practice, potential of photography as a creative medium, visual research, setup & use of a photography studio, in depth knowledge of photography equipment, light modifiers, creative photography, aesthetics, composition, printing techniques from disk, photo, poster to photobook printing, portfolio production, ethics, health & safety. Special Note Since the focus is on a small group, from the 4th session onwards, students will be guided, advised individually towards the type of photography, technique, style they like or would like to focus their photography on or perfect themselves. Course Requirements Basic Student Requirements Dedication to learn photography Strong passion to learn photography if below 18, permission of legal guardian Be free on the course days Be free for out of class practicals, visits, etc Participate & ask questions in class Minimum Equipment Digital Single Reflex Camera (dslr) with kit lens 1 prime lens, 1 flash, 1 tripod, memory cards, batteries Computing Equipment Laptop with image management & editing software Optional (extras) Extra lenses, flashes, transreceiver or wireless triggers, softboxes, umbrella, light stand, camera backpack, reflector, filters, spare batteries & external hard drive, etc Submission Weekly photo submission & research work Printed or soft copy for final portfolio

Class / Practicals / Visits Class Hours & Location Classes will be held in Beau Bassin every week for 3 hours (batch 1) every sunday from 9am to 12pm for 15 weeks, (batch 2) every saturday from 9am to 12pm for 15 weeks, (batch 3) every monday, wednesday & friday from 1pm to 4pm for 5 weeks. (very intensive for students on holidays only) Lectures & Practicals Lectures & main outdoor & studio practicals will be in Beau Bassin Visits, Outings & Outdoor Practicals Advanced outdoor practicals will be around Beau Bassin, Port Louis, Rose Hill, all safe & easily accessible places namely: Balfour Garden, Plaza, museum in Port Louis, Caudan Waterfront, etc Special Visits Special visits at photo labs, Musee de la Photographie, libraries in Rose Hill will be arranged depending on availability Special Note On Transport Fees Whenever possible, entry fees will be arranged for each student. However transport cost to destination will be the responsibility of student Those Below 18 Those below 18 will have to follow strict instructions & guidelines and have to make sure legal guardian give written permisson for each outdoor classes

About the Mentor The name of the Mentor is Pramodh Ramsurrun, he has a great passion for photography. Photography started when doing a photography module while pursuing his Fine Arts Degree from Delhi College of Arts, New Delhi, India. That is what pushed him to get a formal training in Black & White film photography He has many years of experience as graphic designer, studio photographer, senior visualizer in many startups in NEW DELHI, INDIA & in MAURITIUS. However, his photography calling took over and he decided to pursue a professional training and specialization in photography (Masters) in Paris, France, the birth place of photography.
