Bicycle racks are a common sight on the street, usually associated with being structurally sound, skeletal and monotonous. We aimed to design a bicycle rack which reflected the unusual properties of being playful and unstable.

Inspired by the ferris wheel, this concept attempts to change your interaction with the bicycle stand and your bike.
MEET ORBI
HOW TO USE AN ORBI To Park 1. Rotate handle to ďŹ nd an empty bike stand on the belt. 2. Park cycle and lock using chains and hooks on the stand.

To Pick-up 1. Locate bike on stand. 2. Rotate stand to bring cycle to horizontal position. 3. Unlock bike and ďŹ x chain back on provided hook. 4. Ride away with a kick-start on the slope.
Stand made of recycled plastic, to grip bicucles and lock it in place. Assembly contains securing hooks and chains to be locked by the user. Double injection molded with a layer of rubber to protect the cycle.
Steel push clamp to prevent the belt from moving while in use.
DETAILS AND WORKING
CURIOSITY The desire to know the meaning or purpose of this queer structure.
FUN The amusement in the act of spinning the wheel to find a spot to park or get your bike.
SURPRISE The feeling you get when you realise that it is a bike stand. CONFUSION Bewilderment about the unusual form that looks different from all angles. EXCITEMENT That rush of adrenalin when you ride out on the slope. FEAR The sceptism or nervousness about the cycles falling or the structure collapsing. PENSIVE Reflecting upon the experience of having interacted with your two-wheeled companion in such a unique manner.
