Treat Yourself to a Confidence Boost at a Medical Spa

By Haley Huchler

If your confidence could use a boost, you might want to check out a medical spa. Medical spas don’t offer your typical massages and nail treatments; their treatments boost your appearance with results that last.

Medical spas, or med spas, are the intersection of a day spa and an aesthetic medical center. They offer a wide range of services from fillers to facials, botox to acne treatments. Unlike a typical day spa, med spas are driven by results instead of relaxation — although don’t worry, relaxation is part of the deal too. But your med spa experience is meant to create lasting results, such as smoother skin or lifted eyelashes. It’s the best of both worlds — rejuvenation with enduring outcomes.

Med spas also operate under the supervision of licensed medical professionals. These professionals typically have years of extensive medical training and a true understanding of anatomy, allowing them to safely perform medical treatments.

Some of the most popular medical spa treatments include Botox, dermal fillers, body sculpting, and microdermabrasion. Further services can include facials, acne treatments, waxing, eyelash extensions, eyelash and eyebrow tinting, and nail services.

Services Explained

Botox is an injection used primarily to treat facial wrinkles. Dermal fillers plump lips, enhance shallow contours of the face, soften facial creases and wrinkles, and prevent overall signs of early aging. Body sculpting is a treatment that aims to reshape areas of the body and remove extra fat. Microdermabrasion is the use of a minimally abrasive instrument to gently remove the thick outer layer of skin, treating light scarring, discoloration, and sun damage and leaving skin smooth. These treatments can be found at most med spas.

Popularity of med spas has grown in recent years and continues to do so today. According to Business Wire, increasing demand for noninvasive aesthetic treatments is driving the market, and the med spa industry is expected to reach $36.8 billion by 2028.

Why is everyone hopping on the med spa train? CNBC reports that a current rise may be due to COVID restrictions lifting and people having renewed access to services that may have been unavailable to them for the past two years. The personal services industry was hit hard in the beginning of the pandemic, but now, they’re seeing a resurgence in clients.

When choosing a med spa, keep in mind that not all are created equal. Make sure the med spa you choose is operating under a licensed professional. Since they will be performing more intense

treatments than a day spa, it’s important to make sure they have the right credentials.

While enjoying an afternoon at a day spa might provide temporary relaxation and comfort, a trip to the med spa will give you results that last for weeks or months. If you’re looking for a quick pick-me-up, check out the day spa, but for lasting impact, try a med spa. Feeling intrigued? Here are some medi-spas in the Prince William area for you to test out.
