Facades play an important role in creating the urban landscape and thus can be used effectively to reduce ener gy usage and environmental impacts while also incorporating structural elements in the building perimeter zone. The proposal was an integrated facade which satisfied architectural and environmental design requirements.

"The contemporary architecture has seen notable growth in the importance of the facade. Purely aesthetic values have given way to a recognition of its direct influence on structural stability, on the energy efficiency of the building, and therefore on the well-being of those who live in it. A good design will develop all of these elements, and for that you need to choose a material that’s up to the job."

Balconies can provide ele gance and beauty to the in terior spaces and can be a beautiful and lovely addition. By locating balconies at two mian side of the building we can extend bedrooms and living rooms to the outside. Standing in the balcony and visiting the outside world in the morning time with a cup of coffee in your hands is something that is simply incomparable.

Allow the sunlight to flood in

This military complex in the center of Tehran belongs to three different historical periods. According to some documents, con structing Ghazaghkhaneh initiated around a century ago, in 1900. Yet, it turned to one of the strongest urban axis in Tehran when Reza Shah reigned over Iran.

The southern, northern, eastern and western buildings are the most valuable parts while the U shape building locating in the middle of the complex are of less historical significance. After the building’s ownership was transferred to the University of Art, the decision to turn its run-down halls over to other purposes was made by the dean.
