Exchange outcomes: The outcomes are many and positive for the students who participate. Some of these include: Educational • acceptance of multi-faceted approach to learning • enhanced interest in global issues • broader general knowledge of international affairs, specific to the country of exchange • development of skills and awareness that will enhance future potential • complementary to students’ study at Pymble Ladies’ College. Personal • increased confidence • increased self esteem • enhanced maturity • improved communication skills, including ability to communicate with people of different backgrounds • appreciation of different cultures • greater independence • able to make own decisions • valuable international experience • life experience Prior to exchange: • Students must liaise with their teachers before they leave to ascertain what work will be covered in their absence as it is their responsibility to catch up on all work completed while they are away. • We suggest that students work ahead as far as possible before they leave. • Students will be able to take some work with them and they can arrange for work to be emailed to them, but all required work must be caught up by the time they return to Pymble Ladies’ College or shortly afterward. • Exchange students must be well prepared before they leave Australia. • self-assuredness • willingness to contribute and participate in the school community • Students must have a good academic record and be confident that they will be capable of catching up all work missed on their return.
UPPER SCHOOL LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Over the course of the year, a number of leadership positions will be made available to Years 9 and 10 students. These include: • SRC Leaders: Twelve students (six per year group), who are elected by fellow students, will represent Upper School girls for the duration of the year. The SRC works to improve school life, to contribute students’ ideas and to represent the student body in school decision-making. They meet each Friday at lunchtime. As well as their Upper School responsibilities, SRC members serve on a committee within the school-wide SRC program. • House Liaison Leaders: Two House Liaison Officers will be appointed per House from the Upper School for the duration of the year. The key role is to support the Year 12 House leaders in implementing the activities and events through the House system. • Connect Co-Captains: Two students per Connect Group per semester are elected by fellow students to represent their Connect Group for one semester. Their key role is to act as a leader and co-ordinator of activities within their group. They have the important job of representing the College at official school functions, acting as ushers at school events and attending an SRC meeting once a term. • Chapel Leaders: Four Chapel Leaders work with the Chaplains, staff and students to help promote Christian worship at Pymble and support the smooth running of the Chapel Services for the duration of the year.
