CAMBRIDGE PYTHONS SEASON 2015/16 With the support of

Welcome

W Club!

from the President

Joe Moore

President, Cambridge University Pythons

elcome once again to Cambridge University Pythons American Football

Today is the last game in this half of the season and is set to be a battle. The Kent Falcons have started this season with the same 0-3 record as the Pythons so this game is an opportunity for both teams to create some momentum to carry over the Christmas break. The Pythons last week were left devastated after losing our match against Brighton in overtime. A strong performances on both sides of the ball were for nought in the first three quarters as we entered the last 15 minutes still at 0-0. An early score from the Pythons gave us the lead, rumbled in by our dynamic fullback/linebacker #25 Ned Bransden. Yet on the next offensive series a fumble-recovery touchdown from Brighton brought the scores back level. Just as the light was starting to seep away, we entered overtime. A failed first series from the Pythons gave Brighton the chance to win the match, which they took with a well executed offensive drive. It is a critical game for both teams today and we hope it turns out to be a cracker. Score updates will be posted (as usual) on our Facebook page so if you can’t make it to the match, you can still follow us from quarter to quarter. Thanks once again for all your support! #GoPythons

T

his Sunday sees the collision between the Cambridge Pythons and the Kent Falcons. This will be the fifth meeting between these two teams. The Pythons lead the all-time series 4-0, with the first game played in 1996 (a convincing 24-0 victory for the Pythons). The 2012 game which saw the Pythons log a huge upset 22-20 win was an all-time classic. In 2013 the Pythons travelled to Kent with a small squad and put in an excellent defensive performance with a 20-0 shutout win. In the most recent game the Pythons were 17-0 victors in the February winner-takes-all regular season finale, the win cementing the BUCS Eastern Conference Championship title for the Pythons. Following last week’s nail-biting 12-6 defeat in overtime against Brighton the Pythons really need a victory to kickstart the current season.

Introduction

from the opposition

Gregory Chapman, Team President

K

ent Vs Cambridge is always a good game that is well fought by both teams. Usually both of the teams look to clinch a playoff spot in the division, however this year both teams have struggled with the new league format and are both currently at the bottom of the division winless. This will be my third time playing Cambridge in my time at Kent and each of the previous two times we’ve played, it’s resulted in a loss for us, so I and my teammates will be looking to put that streak to an end! Looking forward to a good game and best of luck to both teams.
