A Look at Jesse Losey’s Life in The Navy Jesse Losey, born and raised in Iowa, was looking for an adventure. After graduating from high school in 1994, Jesse headed to the local United States Navy recruiting center and enlisted. After enlisting, Jesse headed to boot camp, where he was put to the test both mentally and physically. For eight weeks, Jesse learned everything from first aid techniques, ship nomenclature, how to signal with flags, as well as the Navy’s customs and courtesies, the laws of armed conflict, shipboard communications and basic seamanship. After successfully completing boot camp, Jesse went on to attend submarine school. During the eight-week Basic Enlisted Submarine School, BESS, Jesse Losey spent his time learning basic theory, construction and operations of nuclear-powered submarines, including courses in submarine safety and escape procedures and shipboard organization. In order to graduate from the school, Jesse had to successfully complete four, high-risk training courses. These courses taught Jesse the differences between surface ship and submarine firefighting, how to repair leaks and seal ruptures in the pipes, how to escape from a disabled submarine, and how to steer and rise/dive the submarine. After successfully completing the required courses, Jesse Losey was given his first assignment. Over the next several years, Jesse Losey was stationed on the USS Chicago. The USS Chicago is a Los Angeles-class submarine and was launched on October 13, 1984. After serving his time on the USS Chicago, Jesse found himself serving on the USS Wyoming as a purchasing agent. The USS Wyoming is an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine that was launched on July 15, 1995. Jesse also spent time as an instructor for the Navy’s Master at Arms program. As an instructor, Jesse was responsible for training Navy service members on law enforcement and force protection in the United States Navy. Members of the Navy that are Masters of Arms are able to conduct security operations as a means to defeat Level I and Level II threats near shore and harbor/port environments and near the coast. Jesse Losey had a long and decorated career, receiving the good conduct medal in 1999 and 2003. He also acquired the title of a sharpshooter in 1999 and was awarded a marksmanship ribbon for his skills. In 2004, after nine years serving in the Navy, Jesse Losey took a medical retirement. Since leaving the Navy, Jesse has been able to use the skills and knowledge acquired during his time in the Navy to build a successful career as an auto Finance Manager at JC Lewis Ford in Savannah, Georgia.
