Laura Motes - Former Police Officer and Future Nurse

Laura Motes was a police officer for the Athens-Clarke County Police Department for 21 years. She trained extensively and had a distinguished career moving up the ranks with additional training in management, administrative duties, and in the professional development of fellow officers. Motes graduated with honors from the US Army Military Police Basic Training Academy in Fort McClellan, Alabama. Motes then recorded over 2,000 hours of training at the police academy before she started working as a patrol officer with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. After some years working there and cutting her teeth, Motes then moved up to alcohol license compliance unit and the vehicles-for-hire unit. Her intelligence and fairness when working in these capacities and communicating effectively with businesses to help them comply with local laws helped her advance in her career and earn her a reputation for excellent police work. Laura Motes saw it as her duty to provide excellent professional development services to her fellow police officers and provide her community with clear communication and fair police work. Her work in the community led her to become Sergeant of the department’s West Precinct. She performed vital administrative and training duties for all officers and the department itself while contributing to police strategy and allocating officers to the correct areas in her surrounding community. Laura Motes left the force in 2014 to pursue nursing. She felt that she could help the community in a different way by focusing on the local healthcare system. Motes completed all of her prerequisites for Georgia Regents University’s Master of Nursing program, which she hopes to enroll in in the fall of 2016. Motes continues to serve her community in other ways as well, by volunteering for and donating to nonprofit organizations such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Laura Motes has worked for Managed Medical Transport and the Athens Regional Medical Center in preparation for her second career. She wants to make a difference in the community as a medical professional who can communicate with doctors and patients effectively. She is also in the process of learning all of the necessary skills she needs effectively care for patients in a variety of medical facility contexts. As she trains further and develops more experience, Motes will only add to her abilities and to her capacity for helping her community of Watkinsville, Georgia. She hopes to help more in her community as time goes on. For More Informatoin Visit Here - https://www.behance.net/lauramotes
