Igor Kotlyar - Committed to the Mission of the National Business Aviation Association Igor Kotlyar is accomplished business aviation professional, having served as not only an executive for several notable companies within the industry, but also as the founder and leader of his own business aviation-based firm for over three years. Joining the industry almost immediately after college, Kotlyar has been a notable force for change, promotion and innovation in the business aviation field, and has spent the last 20 plus years working on ways to improve the industry’s visibility, to continue its prosperity and create exciting and effective new avenues for growth and industry competitiveness.

A longtime industry executive, Igor Kotlyar understands the need for industry leaders, organizations and professionals, much like himself, to band together towards the creation of a better and more viable future for the field of business aviation. As such, he is committed to the success of the National Business Aviation Association, or NBAA, the one and only professional organization that maintains a sole focus on providing continued support of the industry’s many diverse and unique interests.

As Igor Kotlyar knows, the NBAA provides industry representation to the more than 10,000 companies that currently comprise the field, working towards building, maintaining and promoting an environment that fosters both prosperity and growth for their interests both in the United States and across the globe. A Washington, D.C.-based organization, the NBAA provides leading representation and support to businesses that depend on general aviation aircraft which help them maintain productivity, efficiency and overall success. The Association delivers more than 100 services and products to its members, which includes the largest civil aviation trade show in the world, or the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition.

Founded in 1947, the NBAA sprung out of the vision, and determination, of a small group of men, aviation professionals who met at the Wings Club inside New York’s Biltmore Hotel in the Spring of 1946. The result of this meeting, says Igor Kotlyar, was an eventual resurgence of personal, commercial and business flying that continues to dominate the transportation landscape to this day.

This meeting of the minds allowed these professionals to look at the past, present and future state of the aviation industry, and to determine the need for an organization to protect the interest of business flying before it was too late.

The industry, as Igor Kotlyar knows, has faced significant challenges and obstacles since this initial meeting, though the formation of the NBAA afforded business aviation companies and professionals a way to work together towards overcoming these obstacles and to ensure their interests were maintained, protected and promoted for many years to come.
