Michael McCooe - Equestrian sports Michael McCooe built a successful career in international business law. For many years he has been an independent international business lawyer providing legal and business strategy counsel to large international corporations. He has solved international business conflicts, business-to-business and business-to-government. What made Michael McCooe stand out from the rest was his attention to the outcome and getting results and since he worked independently, he has been able to achieve these faster than traditional law firms. Michael McCooe has many interests that occupy his time, but one of the most important to him is breeding and training championship sports horses. Michael McCooe regards this as his true dream job. And he does it with great respect and humanity for the animals that he breeds, because he is a great believer in animal welfare. Animal welfare, he says, means a lot more than just treating animals properly, by ensuring they are well taken care of and well fed. An animal's feelings must also be taken into consideration; all vertebrates, he believes, are capable of feeling fear, frustration, and a wide range of other emotions that too often are considered to be limited to human beings. Consequently, Michael McCooe believes that understanding the psychology of a horse is going to play an important role in its success in competition. Horses are primarily herd animals which is something Michael McCooe feels is important to understand in order to successfully train them. As experience has taught him, Michael McCooe knows that if he wants a successful competition horse, he must first earn its trust and respect. Once that has been accomplished then there is no real limit to what a well-trained horse can achieve, apart of course from the ability and skill of its rider. So Michal McCooe spends a lot of time training riders as well.
