Paul Hawkes: Service as a Judge
Paul Hawkes was appointed to a position as judge on the Florida First District Court of Appeals by Governor Jeb Bush in 2003. Paul Hawkes served as an appellate judge on the Court for nine years, and was twice retained by the citizens of 32 counties in North Florida. Paul Hawkes experienced a rewarding career on the bench, and became the youngest Judge elected to the Chief Judge position in 2007.
Paul Hawkes: Legislative Service Paul Hawkes has an impressive record of service in the Florida State Legislature. Elected to represent state Districts 43 and 26 in 1990 and 1992, Paul Hawkes served the Counties of Marion, Citrus and Hernando with distinction. As a representative, Paul Hawkes was given the opportunity to be an influential voice on the Commerce, Health Care and Public Schools and Governmental Operations Committees.
Paul Hawkes: Advisor to Governor Jeb Bush Paul Hawkes had the opportunity to serve in Governor Jeb Bush’s Office of Policy and Budget in the year 2000. One of Paul Hawkes’ duties in the Office of Policy and Budget, was to work to improve efficiency and eliminate unnecessary state spending. The title ‘Efficiency Czar’ was used to refer to the work, Paul Hawkes became known for - to identify waste and save the state money.
Striving for Efficiency: Paul Hawkes As a Republican, few things are more important to Paul Hawkes than efficiency. With a strong belief in the power of small government, Paul Hawkes worked under Gov. Jeb Bush as his 'efficiency czar' in order to cut fat and trim expenses. With the assistance of Paul Hawkes, prison food services were outsourced, as well as personnel pay and benefits services. He also helped set up the new Agency for Workforce Innovation. Paul Hawkes is proud to say that he is a direct product of a great Florida education. Paul Hawkes An Agent for Positive Change Throughout his career as a lawyer, judge, lobbyist, State Representative, and executive branch appointee, Paul Hawkes has worked hard to serve his fellow Floridians with an eye toward positive change. He has worked hard in order to make sure that government is small and streamlined in order to serve the needs of the people without unnecessarily burdening them. He has been appointed by Gov.
