RECORD VISITOR NUMBERS ENSURE IWED 2011 ‘HUGE SUCCESS’ Over 24000 visitors and 103 exhibitors mean IWED 2011 biggest ever Doha, Qatar, 8 March 2011: The 4th International Wedding Exhibition & Fashion Show Doha (IWED) 2011 came to a spectacular close on Sunday as a record breaking 24000 visitors flocked to the 4-day wedding extravaganza at the Doha Exhibition Center. Once again IWED, which took place from March 3 to 6, has underlined its reputation as the region’s #1 wedding event and the leading international marketplace for high-end wedding companies and brides eager to turn their dream wedding into an IWED reality. “Spectacular wedding fashion shows, celebrity designers, the latest traditional and modern wedding fashions – IWED was fantastic! I drove all the way from Riyadh to attend IWED and meet the brilliant WAED, it is a dream come true,” said one delighted visitor. Opinion amongst the record 103 exhibitors was that the quality of advertising, event management and public relations was the best they had experienced at any event, anywhere in the world. “All the exhibitors I spoke with have the same opinion: IWED 2011 was professionally managed throughout, the number of visitors exceeded our expectations and great credit must go to the organizers for putting an event that boosts Qatar’s international reputation,” said one exhibitor. Models also showcased world-renowned designer, Walid Atallah’s, latest designs at a fashion show at the exhibit itself on Saturday the 5th of March. More than 500 people attended, including 30 VVIPs, and members of the media. A gala dinner in Mr. Atallah’s honour was held afterwards at the W Hotel, who sponsored the event. Attended by over 350 people, including 50 VIPS, the mood was set as the venue was decorated with beautiful wedding day ornaments. Awards were presented to the sponsors and management of IWED, and ended on a high note with Mr. Atallah’s displaying a QR 80,000 brilliantly glimmering wedding dress. Another fashion show was held the following day on the 6th, with fashion designer Waed presenting her latest designs.
