Jewelry designer by profession who after falling in love with patchwork became a passionate patchwork maker. Her beautiful products mostly in pastel colors and with lots of attention to details are made for both little ones and women.

Read the interview we had with Elisa at our handmade market at Katara on 13th November 2015.

What is your background and when and why did you decide to start your own small business? I studied jewelry design in Barcelona at Escola Massana for five years. After graduating I started my own company selling jewelry in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) called Duna. While I was working I started going to patchwork classes and I felt a moment of peace and relaxation. That was back in 2010 and I had the best teacher in the world called Chedes. It is when I decided to take a new path continuing being creative but in a different way, by making patchwork. When I joined QatART, exactly a year ago, I started selling my own patchwork creations.

What sort of products do you market?

T-shirts, cosmetics bags, blankets, lavender hearts, ipad cases and any ideas or wishes that my customers come up with.

How do you stay inspired?

I like to learn new techniques and develop my knowledge by reading books and new magazines.

Where do you buy your supplies?

Every time I travel to different countries I try to find fabric shops but the majority of my supplies are from patchwork shops in Spain.

How does your creating process work?

First of all I decide what I want to make, then I choose materials, cut and start with stitching.

What's the best thing about setting up your own brand?

My spare time is for developing my own creations. Also it feels nice to be recognized by my customers and followers.

Who are your customers and where do you sell your work?

My customers are from different countries, like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Spain… I sell my work at QatART markets and other markets around Doha. Sometimes I get orders through my Instagram and Facebook page.

Name something you do in your spare time.

I do patchwork and spend time with my family.

Where would you like to travel to next?

I am very excited about traveling to Japan. It’s a place that I would like to visit because it is so different from the mainly western style I have been used to.

Any exciting news to share?

I am pregnant with my second child and will give birth in January.

What recent project have you enjoyed doing?

A baby nappy house for a special friend and my new Volkswagen t-shirts.

What do you love about being a QatART Member?

It is an association full of artists from different cultures, where we can exchange different ideas with each others and it’s very well organized.

Do you feel QatART helped your business to grow and in which way?

Yes of course. QatART is a good platform that helps me to launch all my creations and allows me to be recognized by others in Doha.
