This book is a visual summary from ten photographers, over a period of fifteen nights and sixteen days, during late October and early November in 2017. Myanmar is a place where time stands still and history can be viewed from every corner. As a photography group, we experienced and photographed the British colonial influence in Yangon. Rode the commuter trains with the locals. Experienced a sunset river cruise on the Yangon river and watched the golden glitter of the Shwedagon Paya at dusk. In Mandalay, we witnessed a thousand monks being fed breakfast at the Maha Ganayon Kyaung Monastery. Walked over and rowed back past U Bein’s Bridge. Rode on oxen carts at the enormous Mingun Paya. In Pyin U Lwin, we rode Cinderella horse carriages and visited the Kandawgyi Gardens. From Mandalay we floated down the mighty Irrawaddy to the ancient plains of Bagan. In Bagan, we climbed ancient temples to watch sunsets and sunrises, (with and without hot air balloons), and rode horse-carts through the dusty back lanes of old Bagan. In Inlay Lake, we explored the region by motorised canoes. We visited floating gardens, stilt villages and hundreds of pagodas and stupas at Inthein. The main attractions were the foot rowing fishermen the lake is famous for and the colourfully dressed hill tribes people, who came down from their villages to trade at the markets. What this book offers, is only a glimpse into what everyone photographed.
