Papyrus stared as a stationery and greeting cards retailer, the first store was opened in 1973 by Schurman’s Family at Berkeley, California. In 1980, the company decided to begin domestic production of Papyrus products by partnering with artists around the world to produce the finest and unique products to the consumers. Later on, Papyrus was one of the largest greeting cards companies in United States.
The reimaging of a new papyrus comes from the idea of the modern technology, how we as a company create a fun platform for consumers to be creative and fun, where they write down endless meaningful thoughts and we deliver them the friends and families, both physically and virtually. The new logo is inspired by the amalgamation of the letter P, which creates a gift box idea that we are looking down from above, the repetition of letters P are represented the connection of people, Papyrus also uses the 4 main colors celebration colors to bring customers closer together.

The P Stationaries is a monthly calendar that Papyrus sends out to customers/members with the upcoming important dates printed on there as a reminder what are the upcoming celebrations.

We offer a station where clients could come in and DIY their own card by using other Kisok Machines located in the P Card area. The process is simply just following the instruction on the machine, we also have our friendly team members that could assist clients during the process. Why the P card? We offer exclusive AR cards that provide a special fun interaction, because we are here to deliver and bring art to live.

The idea of the Kiosk/ self-service machine is that we want to keep the traditional idea of card shopping, customers can simply play on the machine, just like we are browsing in traditional greeting cards store. Why Kiosk? Just like we promised, we want to deliver the card in both physical and virtual ways to customers.
On this machine, customers can have their privacy to choose from over thousands of designed artists/designers from around the world. Of course, they can have fun customizing the greeting cards in their own unique way.
Customers could select if they want to print a physical copy or send (email) cards to their loved ones.
These are some quick guidelines to show how the machine works, we keep the interior design simple and clean, because we want the design on the cards to be the focus point for the customers.
With the customize section, customers would be able to have fun with the card, such as adding stickers or emoji, to make writing easier we also offer message templates for special occasions. Papyrus understands that it’s to keep the handwriting aesthetic in cards, we include the Paint tool on the machine, so that customers can write message by hand.
If customers select Send in the beginning of the process, in the end of the customize, they could simply just enter the email of the receiver.

When you think about AR greeting cards, the first question that might pop up is what exactly they are. Assume someone has sent you a birthday card. You simply hover your phone over the card to read it. Voila, a video message featuring your loved one has begun to play on your phone.
How did that happen?
This is because the card that was sent to you is not a traditional greeting card. It was an augmented reality greeting card. In simple words, AR cards are physical cards that have been augmented and enhanced with media content. They have a ‘marker’ on them which you can activate using the QR code scanners on your smartphone.
Remember the animated newspapers and photos in Harry Potter movies? AR cards create the same magical experience. The only difference is that they use technology instead of magic spells!
During the process of making a card, if the customer selected AR mode, the next step will be processing to the Photo Booth. On the machine, they can choose the backgrounds, we have over thousands of designs.
AR cards are a fantastic way to combine technology with your own emotions. They offer funny and heartfelt animations that can make your family and friends smile.

Each of our members will have one of the POS machines, which could help you to check inventory, information of the products, or saving your time go straight to browsing for the perfect gifts. Not only that, but the P machine could also get the transaction start to finish, including gift wrapping and delivery service.
These are some general screens of what the P machine could do. Why? The P machines? We are taking the Apple idea into our check out system, because with modern technology, we want the team members to focus on customer’s needs and resolve issues much quicker and easier just by a few clicks.
Customers could choose the gift wrapping and color of the ribbon, before finishing the transaction, they could also decide if they want the gift to go or to mail to receiver home.
We want to keep the store not like a store, almost like a showroom, where products are displayed with QR codes next to them. Why? The new way of shopping at Papyrus inspired by showrooms idea at Ikea, this idea also lets the customers experience how the product looks at home, or they can just grab the sample on display and use it on the spot. This idea also keeps the store cleaner with balanced white
space from large amounts of product. That’s why our P members need to have the P machines at all times to check out product information for customers.
To deliver this gift to someone’s home, it’s simply, we ask customers to fill in all the information, as well as their email address, so that they can receive tracking number when package sent out.

We are proudly introducing the biggest collaboration with TED, why TED? TED is on a mission to discover and spread ideas that spark imagination, embrace possibility and catalyze impact. Papyrus is on the mission of creating and building up a stronger relationship between human connections by offering fun and interesting experiences and products. To be able to understand more about human connection research, we want to share the experience working along with TED to our customers and spread how important this matter is to us and you. We also want to share the story of how we research suitable products that could help the matter.
During the event, we have a small giveaway for customers, it is a notebook, they can listen to the talk, take down important points, as well as playing along with some activities.
