SC Primaries
On February 29th, 2020, Columbia, South Carolina held their 2020 Democratic Primaries. My classmates and I were each assigned a candidate and given various locations to document the weekend. The overall purpose of the assignment was to create a professional photo story with additional mentorship from photography professionals.
My photo story centered around the presence of marginalized communities through this election weekend. Voting is so important for this community as they have fought so hard for the right to do so, and I felt it important to recognize this. My biggest challenge with this assignment was composition and lighting, but through guidance I was able to see this improve over the course of the weekend.

Carolina BeYOUtiful
This campaign was a weeklong initiative organized by the University of South Carolina Student Government, in which I have been a member of for all four years of school. For this project we wanted to highlight the many faces and bodies that grace our campus and the beauty of them all. The campaign was overall targeted to battle disordered eating, and in the photos you will notice the subjects wearing simple clothing in order to draw more attention to their own features.
Through this project I was able to truly experiment with studio lighting on a variety of skin tones and clothing colors. The post production process involved a great deal of color correction and brush adjustments in areas where the studio background were a bit dark.

Essie Nail Polish
For this project I created my own studio setup in my bedroom in order to photograph this Essie Nail Polish. I created the background using poster board and used products I had in my own home as additional props. I lit the product with a ring light, which was my first time doing so, and I actually really enjoyed it. It was very simple and something any aspiring photographer on a budget could benefit from having.
Post production for this shoot was actually very simple. I used Adobe Lightroom and brighten the photo and added a bit of contrast and sharpening. After I took the brush tool and used it to brighten up specific areas that I believed needed enhancing.

Brickyard
For this assignment we were tasked with practicing commercial fashion photography in our own personal style. I prefer natural light photography, so I took my subject to downtown Columbia, South Carolina for our shoot. In order to achieve a street style look I focused on areas with brick and city specific details.
During shooting I kept running into shadow problems, and used a homemade diffuser to correct it. All photos in the series were shot on a Canon t6i with a 50 mm lens. In post editing I focused on sharpening and further adjusting shadows to my liking.

Yoga Warehouse
Yoga Masala, a yoga studio in Columbia, South Carolina, relaunced as Yoga Warehouse in early 2020. They held an open house and I was asked to photograph the event for promotional materials. Through the day I focused on capturing guest interactions and candids of yoga workshops.
This project was personally very impactful for me because it solidified where I would ultimately like to take my work. I enjoyed the action of the event and the topic is something I am passionate about. A problem I faced was lighting, however by toying with the ISO and shutter speed I was able to fix this.

Healing Within
I have recently become very interested in the topic of decolonizing the wellness industry and bringing it back to the BIPOC communities that it stemmed from. For this mini documentary I focused on Ebony English, A BIPOC wellness practitioner in Columbia, South Carolina. Instead of focusing on the city as a whole, I chose to hone in one person, because I believe we as humans are great at telling people that there’s a problem, but not showing them that there is hope to fix it.
I designed this documentary after the short ones I have seen from Refinery 29 and National Geographic. To keep with the theme of wellness and healing, I intentionally made the video slow and kept focus on the subject, so that viewers may feel more connected.

Soda City Cirque
Soda City Cirque, a non-profit circus arts group located in Columbia, South Carolina, partnered with my advanced videography class to create promotional videos for their brand. We were all given partners and paired up with an act to research and ultimately beautifully display through video.
For this assignment, I captured the Aerial Silks. This proved to require quite a bit of setup in order to find the correct composition and lighting. We were ultimately able to find the right setup and crafted a well-lit, beautiful display of the performers talent.

Raveena
This is an imaginary gig poster created for singer and songwriter, Raveena Aurora. Raveena creates music rooted in spirituality, nature and woman empowerment. I chose to emulate this in my design by incorporating natural elements and warmer tones. It is not the most perfect piece in my portfolio, but it is the first piece I created that I truly love and broughy me excitement.
This poster was created in Adobe Illustrator. For the body of the poster I chose a thick stylized font in to bring some more dimension into the graphic. For the headline I traced another font to bring a retro tone into the piece. Through this assignment I was able to explore the use of texture in design and further explore color theory to demonstrate a specific tone.

Fitnosophy
For this class project we were tasked with creating an identity system for a startup from the website 99Designs. I chose Fitnosophy, a brand centered around health and wellness. I chose the font family, created a handdrawn logo and combined these elements to create a water bottle and business card mockup.
The logo for this identity system was created in Adobe Illustrator using the brush tool. In order to stay with the theme of flow, I incorporated flowing and cohesive lines. I chose the colors blue and green because they represent calm and stillness. I used the font Bree because it was organic and simple yet sophisticated.

Inward
This is a magazine cover created for a fictional wellness magazine I created called Inward. For this design I wanted to keep things very clean and simple, because having a life in wellness involves simplifying your diet and eating cleaner. For the background image I downloaded a picture of mushrooms from Unsplash. The font is simple yet strong, and has a slight drop shadow added to create depth.
When starting this project I intended to keep my lines clean and well executed. I believe I succeeded and got the result I desired. I have been struggling with a grid, but for this project I was able to use it without issue.

Your Dog’s Body
This project is an inforgraphic centered around the parts of a dogs body that are unique and interesting facts that might not be well known. For my design I wanted to go for a “diagram on the elementary school wall” feel. So I tried to make the diagram as simple and straight to the point as possible.
I stuck with neautral tone to bring in that realistic atmosphere, however I struggled with creating a design that was straightforward but not boring. In order to fix this I plan to incorporate more depth and contrast where I can through color and type size and weight.

Rosewood Market
For this project I created coupons for my marketing internship at Rosewood Marketing and Deli. The purpose of the coupons was to advertise the grain bowls that the store is very well known for. I made sure to adhere to the brand kit and use the necessary colors and fonts. To add more depth I incorporated a drop shadow to the bowl in the center. I also added a border around the edges to bring everything together and tighten up the design. These were created using Adobe Illustrator.

For All
001
For All This project is a website centered around making health and wellness practices more accessible to anyone that would like to practice. I identified my target audience as young people in Generation Z and millenials at the younger end of the group. I designed this website to be resource and information heavy.
For this assignment I referenced color theory to choose colors that I felt represented peace and tranquility - blue, green and tan. When choosing the design I wanted something that was clean and gender neutral to give the website a “open for anyone interested feeling.

Social Shakeup
In March of 2019 I had the opporuntity to attend the ADPR weeklong advertising workshop in Atlanta, Georgia. My team and I were tasked with creating a fully integrated marketing campaign for The Social Shakeup, a local social media conference for aspiring communications professionals.
My task was creating the graphics to be featured on the instagram and included in the case competition. I used stock images as a base for the content and added text overlay for the brands purposes. My team won first place and these graphics were praised for their simplicity and professionalism.
